Description

This senior analyst role is based at 811 Excellence Dr, Bentonville, AR 72716, and turns business questions into data work for the company's teams.

The job covers dashboards and reporting, data quality, exploratory analysis and statistical modeling, with a focus on presenting clear findings to both technical and business audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Reframe business problems as data or mathematical questions, and agree the problem with the people who own it.
  • Pick suitable methods and tools for each problem, and show with use cases and examples how each one would solve it.
  • Keep your expertise current and apply it to shape action plans, advise colleagues on methods and best practices, and build agreement behind your reasoning.
  • Recommend solutions to complex business issues, and write business cases for projects that promise a return on investment or cost savings.
  • Convert business needs into projects, tasks and domain documents that fit the overall strategy, linking stakeholders with working solutions.
  • Find and share business insights relevant to your area.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders to deliver solutions, track progress and results, spot improvements, and adjust to shifting priorities and new duties.
  • Help confirm which data source fits each purpose and which priorities and service level agreements apply, then run first-pass quality checks on extracted data.
  • Build charts and graphics for data and model results, designing views across several datasets to match customer needs.
  • Work with UX designers and UI engineers when front-end applications are needed.
  • Present to team and business audiences with suitable visualization frameworks, tailor your style to each stakeholder, and support points with clear logic. Coach junior associates on storytelling types, structures and techniques.
  • Promote data quality awareness, profile and assess data, test and validate quality requirements, and measure and monitor it continuously against service level agreements.
  • Run operational data quality procedures, manage quality issues, lead cleansing to fix defects and remove unused data, and grant, restrict or remove user access as needed.
  • Interpret company and regulatory data policies and teach others the governance processes, practices and guidelines.
  • Gather and tabulate data, judge its accuracy, validity and fit, and help choose statistical techniques, applying them under leadership direction.
  • Help plan and run exploratory analysis projects, review existing statistical models, and recommend new ones based on hypotheses.
  • Run statistical analysis and build basic models using standard packages and software suites.
  • Apply the defined data strategy to routine business problems within a single function.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, engineering, statistics, economics, analytics, information technology or a related field, plus two years of experience in data analysis, data science or a closely related area; or four years of experience in that area.
  • Hands-on experience building storytelling dashboards in Tableau Desktop and Power BI, and publishing them to a server connected to Oracle (GRS/CKB), MySQL, Teradata, Prod 17, DB2 and GCP BigQuery.
  • Experience migrating a Teradata database to GCP and Hadoop.
  • Experience using Query IT and Hive to access files stored in Hadoop.
  • Experience blending data from multiple sources to find new opportunities.
  • Experience building a front-end navigation scheme for a dashboard portfolio that includes strategic, tactical and operational dashboards.
  • Experience moving legacy reports into Tableau and building new reports from a formal data warehouse initiative.
  • Experience building and managing a Tableau semantic layer with reusable data sources and KPIs that show sales trends and support sales forecasts.
  • Experience extracting large sales and shared-file datasets and running complex Python computations to create BigQuery tables and schedule refreshes.
  • Experience developing Spark code in Scala, Python and Spark SQL to pull item and product data from different sources.
  • Experience tuning the performance of targets, sources, mappings and sessions.
  • Experience running real-time analysis of incoming data with the Kafka consumer API, Kafka topics and Spark Streaming in Scala.
  • Experience with PL/SQL, including stored procedures, functions, packages, SQL tuning, and creating tables, views, materialized views, triggers, sequences and synonyms.
  • Any amount of experience with these skills is accepted.
