Description

The company is hiring a senior transportation project manager for its Transportation team in Murray, Utah.

The role leads complex, high-profile infrastructure projects that shape mobility across Utah and the Intermountain West.

Utah is investing heavily in highway capacity, interchanges, corridor rebuilds, bridges, transit links and regional mobility. Growing communities from the Wasatch Front outward need projects that improve safety, relieve congestion and support long-term economic growth.

The Utah Transportation team combines many engineering disciplines to deliver integrated solutions for public agencies. You will set technical and strategic direction, guide multidisciplinary teams, build client relationships and help win and deliver future work.

The company is a global infrastructure consulting firm and a Fortune 500 company, with $16.1 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2025 and over 50,000 staff. It works across water, environment, energy, transportation and buildings, from advisory and planning through design, engineering and construction management.

The ideal candidate is a senior professional who combines strong project management, technical credibility, client development experience and a drive to deliver infrastructure improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Act as project manager and technical lead on large, complex transportation projects, from planning and preliminary engineering through final design and construction support.
  • Direct multidisciplinary engineering teams spanning roadway, highway, interchange, bridge, traffic, transit, drainage and environmental work.
  • Control scope, schedule, budget, staffing, quality, risk and financial performance to meet project goals and client expectations.
  • Set delivery strategies, coordinate technical resources and make sure plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports and other deliverables are completed on time.
  • Serve as the main contact for clients, contractors, agency staff and other stakeholders, keeping communication clear and building trust throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to programs covering highway capacity, corridor work, interchange rebuilds, bridges, traffic operations and multimodal connections.
  • Run technical coordination and design reviews to confirm compliance with UDOT, local agency, federal and industry standards.
  • Track project performance, spot emerging risks and opportunities, solve delivery problems and take corrective action when needed.
  • Support alternative delivery methods such as design-build and progressive design-build where they apply, working with construction partners on practical, cost-effective options.
  • Lead proposals, scope and fee preparation, staffing plans, client presentations and pursuit work for upcoming transportation opportunities.
  • Find ways to grow existing client relationships, win new business and strengthen the company's position in Utah's transportation market.
  • Mentor project managers, engineers and technical staff, encouraging collaboration, accountability, technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Promote the company's commitment to safety, quality, sustainability, resilience and innovative delivery.

Requirements

  • Minimum: A BA or BS plus 10 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience and/or education that includes 2 years of leadership.
  • Preferred: A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering or a closely related field.
  • Preferred: A Professional Engineer (PE) license in Utah, or the ability to obtain Utah licensure.
  • Preferred: Extensive experience managing transportation engineering projects such as highways, roadways, interchanges, bridges, traffic infrastructure or multimodal improvements.
  • Preferred: A proven record delivering complex transportation projects for state departments of transportation, counties, cities or other public agencies.
  • Preferred: Experience with UDOT, including its design standards, project development procedures, quality requirements and delivery processes.
  • Preferred: A proven ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, staffing, risk, quality and finances across several concurrent assignments.
  • Preferred: Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating roadway, bridge, traffic, drainage, environmental, transit and construction work.
  • Preferred: Success supporting design-build, progressive design-build or other alternative delivery, coordinating owners, designers, contractors and other partners.
  • Preferred: Experience preparing pursuits, technical proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, staffing plans and client presentations for transportation work.
  • Preferred: Established client relationships in Utah's transportation market with UDOT, local transportation agencies, counties and cities.
  • Preferred: A record of spotting business opportunities, deepening client ties, supporting strategic pursuits and helping grow a transportation engineering practice.
  • Preferred: Strong leadership and communication skills, including mentoring technical staff, managing stakeholder expectations and explaining complex engineering to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Bentley OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, AutoCAD Civil 3D and relevant scheduling, estimating and project controls tools.
  • Preferred: The ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on problem solving and sound engineering judgment, with a commitment to high-quality work on schedule and within budget.
