The company is building hypersonic defense systems and is moving quickly, with an early-stage team where each hire can have a visible effect on the work and the company's direction.
This is a hands-on recruiting role for someone who can build candidate pipelines from nothing, compete in tight talent markets, and deliver hires. You will do more than manage applicants and schedule interviews: you will go find strong people who are not actively searching, and you will push back on standard approaches when they are not working.
Responsibilities
Run full-cycle recruiting for senior technical and specialized engineering roles across several disciplines, from first sourcing contact to accepted offer.
Work with engineering leaders and hiring managers to pin down technical needs, set hiring priorities, and plan how to reach candidates.
Find and approach strong passive candidates using creative sourcing, market mapping, referrals, and direct outreach.
Build and keep up pipelines for mechanical, electrical, software, firmware, RF, radar, GNC, propulsion, and systems engineering, along with other specialized technical roles.
Keep a working knowledge of competing talent pools, including defense primes, well-funded startups, aerospace firms, and nearby tech industries.
Lead calibration and evaluation discussions so technical skills, proven execution, and company values are judged consistently.
Keep candidates moving quickly, cutting avoidable waiting time between interview rounds and hiring decisions.
Give candidates a strong experience through clear communication, good preparation, openness, and reliable follow-up.
Use recruiting data and market information to spot pipeline gaps, judge which sourcing channels work, and refine hiring methods.
Hold hiring teams to agreed timelines, feedback deadlines, and interview commitments.
Help improve the company's recruiting processes, tools, and standards.
Requirements
At least 5 years of full-cycle technical recruiting, ideally in aerospace, defense, hardware, advanced manufacturing, robotics, or fast-growing technology companies.
A record of hiring highly specialized engineers and technical staff in competitive markets.
Experience running several complex requisitions on your own while keeping pipelines full and hiring results steady.
Strong sourcing skills, including finding and engaging passive candidates with LinkedIn Recruiter and other research tools.
Experience working directly with senior engineering leaders and technical hiring managers.
Strong communication, relationship-building, negotiation, and closing skills.
Well organized and detail-focused, able to work effectively in a fast-moving, frequently changing setting.
Clear ownership, urgency, resourcefulness, and a habit of taking action.
Preferred: experience recruiting in defense, aerospace, hypersonics, space, missile systems, or advanced hardware.
Preferred: experience hiring across mechanical, electrical, RF, radar, software, firmware, GNC, propulsion, and systems engineering.
Preferred: experience helping grow a technical team at a venture-backed startup or quickly expanding company.
Preferred: familiarity with engineering talent markets in Southern California, Texas, and other major aerospace and defense hubs.
Preferred: experience building talent maps, competitive intelligence, and proactive sourcing plans for hard-to-fill roles.
Preferred: experience using Greenhouse or another modern applicant tracking system.
