Senior Technical Consultant

You will lead technical delivery for industrial digital projects. That means setting solution designs and implementation plans, guiding project teams technically, and acting as a trusted adviser to clients who are rolling out industrial data platforms, with responsibility for delivering safely, efficiently and to the required standard.

You will build scalable, data-driven solutions on the company's own and partner technology, including Cognite Data Fusion (CDF), FactoryTalk Data Mosaix and FactoryTalk Optix. You will work with engineering, operations and business teams to turn complicated industrial problems into digital solutions.

Responsibilities

• Apply systems engineering skills to deliver information solutions in manufacturing settings.
• Design data models, integration patterns and system architectures that match business goals.
• Define end-to-end architectures using industrial data management, cloud platforms and edge data ingestion.
• Make sure deployed solutions are scalable, secure and performant.
• Lead client workshops across the project, covering requirements gathering, design and training.
• Turn user and functional requirements into technical specifications, and oversee development, testing, installation and support.
• Build data ingestion, contextualization and visualization workflows, along with ingestion pipelines, APIs and integration services.
• Follow development standards, CI/CD practices and code quality expectations.
• Keep up with leading industrial data platforms and emerging trends.
• Mentor junior delivery staff.
• Share knowledge and best practices within the company.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
• Typically 8-10 years of related experience with a systems integrator, consulting firm or industrial technology provider.
• Solid understanding of, and hands-on experience with, industrial data systems such as historians, SCADA, PLCs, MES and ERP.
• Experience leading technical teams and managing client-facing delivery.
• Strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of automation industry standards.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, comfort with conflict resolution, and a continuous improvement mindset.
• Preferred: 5+ years of experience in data engineering and/or software development.
• Preferred: Hands-on work with Cognite Data Fusion, FactoryTalk Data Mosaix, PTC ThingWorx or similar industrial data platforms.
• Preferred: Proficiency in cloud technologies, APIs and data modeling.
• Preferred: Experience with Python, SQL and RESTful APIs.
• Preferred: Familiarity with time-series data and contextualization techniques.
• Preferred: Knowledge of industries such as mining, oil and gas, manufacturing or energy.
• Preferred: Certifications in cloud or industrial data platforms.
• Preferred: Prior consulting or system integrator experience.
• Preferred: Familiarity with machine learning model development and MLOps practices.
• Preferred: Understanding of data governance, access management and cybersecurity in industrial settings.
• Preferred: Strong communication skills for both executive and technical audiences.
• Preferred: Experience in asset performance management, production monitoring or advanced process control.

Conditions

You must have legal authorization to work in Australia. The company will not sponsor employment visas for this role, now or in the future.

Expect to travel up to 25% of the time, including work at customer sites.

Hybrid working: you are expected to be at a company location on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, unless you have a business commitment away from the office.
