Senior Systems Software Engineer - Infrastructure

Description

The company has worked in computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing for more than 25 years. Its GPUs are now being built as the processing core for computers, robots, and self-driving cars.

The GPU Firmware Infrastructure team builds the automation, tools, and practices behind the software and firmware for the company's GPUs.

The team runs dev tools, build compute, test farms, artifact and release pipelines, secure signing services, and the observability that shows whether they work. Faster, more reliable platforms let every product ship sooner.

You would set the infrastructure and AI direction for this work, alongside a diverse group of engineers building AI supercomputers.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for major platform areas, owning architecture, roadmap, and long-term health across several product cycles.
• Design and lead infrastructure work that crosses team boundaries, aligning with firmware, hardware, and business partners.
• Own platform reliability: define SLIs and SLOs, add measurement where none exists, reduce MTTR, and automate incident response.
• Find automation opportunities no one has raised yet, make the case for them, and deliver them.
• Design and build AI-powered workflows that raise the output of the whole team.
• Set the technical standard through design reviews, technical writing, and mentoring so the team makes sound decisions without you in the room.

Requirements

• A BS or MS in EE, CS, or CE, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years in infrastructure, platform, DevOps, or SRE engineering.
• Deep knowledge of modern CI/CD and test automation: pipeline design, build system internals, caching, test frameworks, and failure modes that appear only at scale.
• Strong Python skills, infrastructure-as-code experience, and scripting ability.
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud or on-prem compute fleets, containers, and orchestration such as K8s or equivalent.
• Solid grasp of database concepts, schema design, object modeling, and SQL or non-SQL systems.
• Prior ownership of cross-organization production systems and the lessons learned from running them.
• Clear communication, leadership, and teaching skills: you can explain why a solution is correct, write clear requirements, review critically, and guide others to understanding.
• A record of growing other engineers, formally or informally.
• Stand-out item: a sense of humor, which is encouraged but not required.
• Stand-out item: a track record of technical proposals, design docs, or architecture decisions that others have acted on independently.
• Stand-out item: experience with AI-assisted development tools, including knowing when to trust the output, when to verify it, and when to discard it.
• Stand-out item: experience developing device BIOS, firmware, or other low-level embedded software.
• Stand-out item: visible pride and care in your work.

Conditions

Base salary ranges from 224,000 USD to 356,500 USD, set by location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
