The company is building Through-Life Services for the UK's next-generation combat aircraft, and this senior systems engineering role sits at the front of that work.
You will work with engineering specialists, international industry partners and wider stakeholders to shape early support design decisions and develop support concepts that will sustain front-line operations for decades.
The role suits engineers who like hard problems, enjoy close collaboration and want their work to have clear operational impact.
Responsibilities
Identify the full set of stakeholders for the Through-Life Services (TLS) element of the programme and help build a stakeholder engagement and communication strategy.
Gather and mature stakeholder needs, weighing competing interests and influence to define the best capability solutions.
Help create concepts and architectures for the Through-Life Support solution, working with product design teams and functional specialists such as supportability, obsolescence and data.
Carry out system functional analysis, modelling and architecture development or refinement as needed.
Apply suitable tools and techniques to define problems within the team.
Help define and establish Use Cases that inform Functional Analysis and support derivation of the logical architecture.
Work with internal and external stakeholders so the TLS architecture aligns with the wider programme.
Raise emerging issues, contribute to risk assessments, and help shape mitigation and opportunity plans.
Bring together inputs from multiple stakeholders and produce clear, high-quality reports and presentations for customers and industry partners.
Build strong working relationships across and beyond your line of business, and promote best practice.
Requirements
Experience capturing and analysing stakeholder needs to shape service solutions for future operating environments.
Experience using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to develop service and product architectures against stakeholder requirements.
Experience writing Use Cases and performing Functional Analysis to refine and validate requirements.
Experience managing requirements and keeping them traceable across the engineering lifecycle.
A solid grasp of the engineering lifecycle and how early technical decisions affect later development and support.
Ability to balance competing needs and constraints using structured methods such as trade studies.
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence, communicate well and adapt to changing programme demands.
Ability to work confidently with internal and external stakeholders across different organisations, disciplines, backgrounds and seniority levels.
Commitment to engineering best practice, drawing on academic research, industry benchmarks and other external sources.
Ability to examine the problem space objectively, without favouring a predetermined solution.
Understanding of how a system fits into a wider capability, including system-of-systems relationships and dependencies on personnel, training and infrastructure.
Self-motivated, with strong problem-solving skills and the drive to see complex issues through to resolution.
Security clearance: the role requires pre-employment screening to the UK Government's Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
