Staff Infrastructure Engineer (Production Optimization)

Description

The company is hiring a Staff Infrastructure Engineer to make its full production workflow work better from a business standpoint.

The role finds where work slows down, costs more, or loses quality, then leads engineering changes across teams to fix those points.

Responsibilities

• Trace the production path from business requests through data processing to delivery, using metrics and frontline input to spot delays, rework, resource shortfalls, and unclear ownership.
• Rank fixes by business value, effort, and dependencies, then get teams to agree on goals, roles, and milestones.
• Drive changes to infrastructure, services, tooling, and ways of working with product, data, research, and operations teams, staying involved through rollout and adoption.
• Set baselines for delivery lead time, throughput, quality, and unit cost, confirm end-to-end gains, and turn what works into reusable capabilities.

Requirements

• Solid software engineering and architecture skills, including experience running production systems and improving several services or teams.
• Strong communication and leadership across teams: you resolve conflicting goals, define ownership, build agreement without formal authority, and see joint work through to completion.
• Good product instincts and business judgment: you understand how technical limits shape delivery and choose the problem to solve first.
• Comfort with ambiguity: you combine data with user feedback and separate symptoms from root causes across technical and organizational lines.
• Hands-on ability to design and build practical solutions, with good technical taste and attention to adoption.
• A plus: experience improving complex data production workflows or leading cross-team platform changes.
