Description

The company is looking for an experienced systems engineer who also acts as a product owner. The role supports a mission-critical program for national security and works on an intelligent cyber resilience platform. The platform streamlines security authorization, improves compliance management, and helps the enterprise reduce risk before problems occur.

You will sit on a cross-functional Agile team and connect systems engineering work with product ownership. You will turn customer needs into technical solutions. The team follows the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), and you will work with stakeholders, engineers, architects, and program leadership to deliver capabilities that matter to the mission.

The role suits a senior systems engineer who likes technical leadership, long-range thinking, and guiding Agile teams toward useful results.

Responsibilities

  • Own and prioritize the team backlog so the most valuable capabilities ship first.
  • Work with stakeholders to define, refine, and explain product requirements.
  • Write user stories and acceptance criteria that make business and technical goals clear.
  • Review and accept finished work to confirm it meets customer expectations and program goals.
  • Take part in SAFe events: PI Planning, iteration planning, daily standups, system demos, and Inspect & Adapt workshops.
  • Work closely with Product Management, System Architects, Release Train Engineers, and other Product Owners so team work lines up with program objectives.
  • Elicit, analyze, document, and manage system requirements across the full lifecycle.
  • Allocate system and functional requirements to hardware, software, facilities, and personnel.
  • Support requirements verification and keep traceability from concept through implementation.
  • Design system solutions that meet mission, business, and technical needs.
  • Run quantitative analyses of reliability, maintainability, survivability, and vulnerability.
  • Model activities, analyze data, and evaluate business processes to find efficiencies and good practices.
  • Create and maintain systems engineering artifacts: Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), Systems Engineering Plans (SEP), Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Help produce other systems engineering documents the program needs.
  • Help build and apply program architecture and technical standards.
  • Define concepts of operation, interface standards, and system architecture.
  • Guide system development, integration, testing, and deployment.
  • Analyze end-to-end workflows and run technical assessments to find risks and opportunities.
  • Lead systems requirements reviews and confirm compliance with applicable standards and mission requirements.

Requirements

  • Required: Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Required: A bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related field. An additional five (5) years of Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Required: 20 years of Systems Engineering experience on programs of similar scope, scale, and complexity.
  • Required: Experience working in a government contracting setting.
  • Required: Proven skill in systems engineering principles, requirements management, and backlog prioritization.
  • Required: Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to speak to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Desired: Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC) programs.
  • Desired: Experience as a Product Owner or in Agile development environments.
  • Desired: Working knowledge of cybersecurity compliance frameworks, including RMF and NIST standards.
  • Desired: Experience with Agile and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar.
  • Desired: Experience working within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
  • Desired: SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification.
  • Desired: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or an equivalent Agile certification.
