Senior Staff Software Engineer, Developer Experience — Moveworks

Description

The team builds platforms that let developers build on the company's agentic AI platform. Its work follows a cycle: more builders lead to more integrations, which improve the assistant and create more demand.

The team builds scalable infrastructure first and then the products that run on it, combining platform engineering with product thinking aimed at developers.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core developer platforms, including SDKs, APIs, runtime abstractions, tooling infrastructure and developer-facing services.
• Take products that raise developer productivity from start to finish, aiming for faster time-to-market, higher-quality artifacts and less friction.
• Define the platform primitives other products rely on, favouring generality, reliability and clean abstractions.
• Track supply metrics such as developer activation, integration velocity, artifact quality and ecosystem breadth.
• Set the technical direction for your platform areas, covering roadmap, API design and alignment across teams.
• Set the engineering standards for architecture, design, observability and operations.
• Mentor senior engineers and grow the team's technical depth.

Requirements

• 12+ years designing, building and operating production systems, including substantial work on platform or infrastructure teams.
• Experience leading the design and multi-year operation of developer platforms used by 100+ external teams, with examples of the platform enabling new use cases or speeding up delivery substantially.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems, including reliability, API design, performance, fault tolerance and observability.
• Strong systems engineering skills, with fluency in production microservices environments at scale.
• Experience building general-purpose platforms that other engineers depend on, and a clear sense of what makes an abstraction good or leaky.
• You own work end to end: designing, coding, debugging in production and iterating on real feedback rather than handing off after the design doc.
• Ability to make decisions with incomplete data, including when to generalize or specialize, when to build or integrate, and when to move fast or lock in a design.
• Understanding of developer activation funnels and feedback loops that turn builders into core contributors.
• Familiarity with LLM-based architectures or agent orchestration patterns.
• Experience with enterprise developer environments, including auth, sandboxing, compliance and multi-tenancy constraints.

Conditions

The role requires working in the office in Mountain View, CA, five days a week.

Base pay for this role in this location is $190,900 to $334,100, plus equity where applicable, variable or incentive compensation, and benefits. Pay is set by location and individual factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location, and the base pay shown is a guideline that may change.

Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings incentive structure.

Work personas (flexible, remote or required in office) are assigned based on the nature of the work and the assigned location. The company may use a third-party service to check the distance between your home and the nearest office.
