Description

You will help design and build the data platform and backend services behind the company's healthcare SaaS products.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an engineer with deep knowledge of database and data architecture, cloud-native backend work, scalability, security, and healthcare interoperability.

The strongest candidates pair solid software engineering with a knack for building secure, high-performance data designs for large multi-tenant systems that hold sensitive health information.

Responsibilities

  • Build scalable backend services and data platforms for multi-tenant SaaS products.
  • Model and tune relational and non-relational databases, including how their storage is organized.
  • Create scalable pipelines that ingest, integrate, and process large and intricate healthcare datasets.
  • Shape cloud-native data designs that combine databases, data lakes, lakehouses, and distributed platforms.
  • Build APIs and integrations for healthcare interoperability, including HL7 and FHIR.
  • Set the architecture for security, encryption, access control, auditing, data governance, retention, and regulatory compliance.
  • Design for high availability, disaster recovery, performance, and scale.
  • Guide the team technically through architecture decisions while still designing and coding hands-on.
  • Work closely with Software Engineering, Product, Security, Quality, and Regulatory teams.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a closely related field.
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial backend and data platform work.
  • Deep hands-on experience designing and tuning relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MySQL.
  • Experience with NoSQL systems such as MongoDB, Cosmos DB, or similar.
  • Solid experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP and cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience with current data pipelines, ingestion frameworks, data lakes, lakehouses, and distributed data architectures.
  • A solid grasp of multi-tenant SaaS design, APIs, scalability, security, and data governance.
  • Experience designing systems that process sensitive or regulated data.
  • Preferred: experience in healthcare software or another regulated industry.
  • Preferred: experience with HL7, FHIR, EHR/EMR integration, or healthcare interoperability.
  • Preferred: experience with Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Kafka, Spark, or similar tools.
  • Preferred: experience with containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes.
