Description

The company is a health and fitness app ranked number one worldwide, with over 500M downloads, more than 80M monthly users and 7M paid subscribers.

It has been running for ten years, is backed by a $200M investment led by General Atlantic, and reached a $1B valuation in 2024.

The app holds the top user rating in the App Store's health category. The company is now building its next generation of digital health tools, using AI, strong privacy protection and clinical backing to help users understand their bodies.

This is a senior individual contributor role on the User Centric stream, working on a 0→1 initiative. The key focus is the Virtual Clinic, which links tracking, insights, consultations and follow-ups into one smooth journey inside the app.

You will tackle the hardest design problems, set the quality bar for the team, and make sure designs are accessible, inclusive and emotionally resonant. You will work across product, engineering, research and content, and shape the wider design direction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex 0→1 design projects, building scalable frameworks and systems that support growth.
  • Turn unclear product and data problems into clear, user-centred experiences.
  • Design features, end-to-end flows and experiments that serve user needs and business goals such as engagement and retention.
  • Build prototypes and high-fidelity mock-ups in Figma or other prototyping tools.
  • Work closely with product managers, engineers, researchers and content designers to deliver joined-up solutions.
  • Mentor other designers through feedback, craft guidance and knowledge sharing.
  • Champion ethical, emotionally intelligent design and keep accessibility standards met at every stage.
  • Success is measured by complex initiatives that clearly lift engagement, retention and satisfaction, and by raising team skill and craft through mentoring and a culture of design excellence.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of professional experience designing mobile applications.
  • A portfolio showing systemic design, advanced interaction design, motion and micro-interaction skill, and measurable product impact.
  • Experience building scalable frameworks, contributing to design systems and creating interaction models.
  • Strong Figma skills and experience with advanced prototyping tools such as Protopie.
  • Clear communicator and presenter who can turn complex ideas into simple stories and win over stakeholders.
  • Works well with others, and has mentored designers and raised the craft bar for a team.
  • Committed to accessibility, inclusion and ethical design practice.
  • Experience using AI or LLMs to explore design ideas.
  • Experience in health tech or another regulated industry.

Conditions

The team is mission-led and product-driven, moves quickly, stays focused and owns work from brief to build to impact.

Debate is welcome, decisions are shared, and the team cares about craft, ships with purpose and keeps raising the bar.

You will work with people who take their work seriously but not themselves. The role takes commitment and resilience, and the drive to keep going when things get hard.

The role is hybrid, with 3 days per week in the office.

Annual salary range of £85,000 to £115,000 GBP, which may vary depending on skills and experience.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay with yearly reviews.
  • Access to the company's performance incentive scheme.
  • Paid holiday, sick leave and female health leave.
  • Enhanced parental leave and pay for maternity, paternity, same-sex and adoptive parents.
  • Fast-track growth through meaningful work and learning support.
  • A fully paid 5-week sabbatical at the five-year Floversary.
  • Premium access for friends and family, plus health, pension and wellbeing perks.
