Description

The company is an embedded semiconductor solution provider with over 21,000 engineers in more than 30 countries, building technology for automotive, industrial, infrastructure and IoT markets.

This principal-level EDA/CAD role leads technical direction for the company's worldwide compute and CAD infrastructure, combining hands-on engineering with architecture and day-to-day operational ownership.

The work spans Linux compute, engineering workspaces, project provisioning, LSF, EDA license servers, Perforce, monitoring and automation.

You will work with engineering, CAD and IT/IS teams to build scalable, reliable environments that behave the same way across sites and support semiconductor development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical direction for global EDA compute, covering interactive and batch environments, and build and support Linux-based engineering setups.
  • Work with IT/IS on compute, storage, networking and server needs, and help plan capacity and technical roadmaps.
  • Own the engineering project and workspace architecture: build and maintain creation and initialization mechanisms, support project configuration, and connect configuration, PDKs, EDA tools and workflows.
  • Give project teams extensible ways to customize their environments while keeping a supported platform standard, and reduce manual steps across the project lifecycle.
  • Lead global EDA license-server infrastructure, set standard approaches for deployment and administration, and build automation for updates, validation, auditing, monitoring and utilization reporting.
  • Write and maintain Python, shell and other automation and utilities for provisioning, configuration generation, monitoring and administration, and integrate with Jenkins/CI and service-management workflows where suitable.
  • Improve observability, auditability and maintainability of infrastructure services.
  • Build dashboards and metrics, track compute and license use, identify capacity, performance and reliability risks, and find inefficient use of shared resources.
  • Shape the supported Linux OS strategy for EDA, coordinate tool compatibility with IT/IS, support migration between Linux generations, and separate application requirements from infrastructure ownership.
  • Provide EDA expertise for LSF environments: work with IT/IS on architecture, provisioning and resource sharing, monitor efficiency, link project environments to batch compute, and automate detection of problematic workloads.
  • Provide engineering-side expertise for Perforce server infrastructure, supporting architecture, administration, troubleshooting, lifecycle, availability, storage and backup with IT/IS, and build related automation, monitoring and procedures.
  • Document architecture, operations, scripts, dependencies and recovery steps, handle complex escalations, train CAD and IT/IS staff, set primary and backup ownership, design resilience and failover, and standardize license infrastructure with regional CAD teams.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in EDA/CAD infrastructure engineering within semiconductor development.
  • Strong Linux/Unix skills.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills, preferably in Python and shell.
  • Experience with LSF or comparable distributed compute environments.
  • Experience with enterprise version-control and data-management infrastructure such as Perforce Helix and IPLM.
  • Experience managing engineering projects and workspaces.
  • Understanding of compute, storage and network needs for EDA environments.
  • Experience with EDA licensing and FlexNet-based environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Experience building production-quality engineering automation.
  • Ability to work across global engineering, CAD and IT/IS organizations.
  • Strong technical writing and knowledge-transfer skills.
  • Highly desirable: Perforce server administration and architecture.
  • Highly desirable: LSF administration or integration experience.
  • Highly desirable: FlexNet license-server architecture.
  • Highly desirable: Grafana or similar infrastructure monitoring.
  • Highly desirable: Jenkins/CI automation.
  • Highly desirable: ServiceNow integration.
  • Highly desirable: Cadence and other major semiconductor EDA tool experience.
  • Highly desirable: Linux infrastructure and RHEL migration experience.
  • Highly desirable: experience supporting geographically distributed engineering environments.
