The company is a semiconductor firm with a global team of over 21,000 engineers in more than 30 countries, building technology for automotive, industrial, infrastructure and IoT markets.
This principal-level role provides technical leadership for the global engineering compute and CAD infrastructure used in semiconductor development.
The work mixes hands-on engineering with architecture and operational ownership across Linux compute, engineering workspaces, project provisioning, LSF integration, EDA license servers, Perforce, monitoring and automation.
You will work with engineering, CAD and IT/IS teams to build environments that scale, stay reliable and remain consistent across all sites.
Responsibilities
Lead the technical direction of global EDA compute infrastructure, covering interactive and batch environments.
Build and support Linux-based engineering environments, and work with IT/IS on compute, storage, networking and server needs.
Help plan infrastructure capacity and set technical roadmaps.
Troubleshoot complex compute and environment problems, and automate work to improve reliability and cut manual administration.
Own and develop the project and workspace architecture, including creation and initialization mechanisms and project configuration.
Keep environment setup consistent across projects and sites, and connect project configuration, PDKs, EDA tools and workflows.
Build extensible options that let project teams customize their environments within a supported platform standard, and reduce manual work in project setup and lifecycle.
Lead the global license-server infrastructure, define standard approaches for license deployment and administration, and automate license updates, validation and auditing.
Write robust Python, shell and other automation for CAD infrastructure, including configuration generation, provisioning, monitoring and administration.
Maintain utilities and infrastructure scripts, integrate CAD infrastructure with Jenkins/CI and service-management workflows where suitable, and improve observability, auditability and maintainability.
Build dashboards and metrics, monitor compute and license use, and spot capacity, performance and reliability risks.
Develop ways to find inefficient use of shared engineering resources, and work with infrastructure teams on forward capacity planning.
Contribute to the supported Linux OS strategy for EDA, coordinate tool compatibility with IT/IS, and support migrations between Linux generations.
Set clear engineering requirements for infrastructure standards and separate application requirements from operational ownership.
Maintain architecture and operations documentation, including scripts, configuration, dependencies and recovery procedures.
Act as escalation point for complex problems, train CAD and IT/IS engineers, set up primary and backup ownership for critical services, and design resilience and failover strategies.
Standardize license infrastructure globally with regional CAD teams and IT/IS, and support monitoring, reporting and planning for license availability and utilization.
Provide EDA expertise for LSF-based compute, work with IT/IS on LSF architecture, provisioning and resource sharing, and support integration between project environments and batch compute.
Build methods to monitor compute utilization and efficiency, and automate detection of inefficient or problematic workloads.
Provide engineering-side expertise for Perforce server infrastructure, supporting its architecture, administration, troubleshooting and lifecycle with IT/IS, including availability, storage and backup.
Build automation and monitoring for Perforce, and keep its operational documentation and procedures current.
