Description

The applications engineering group for performance computing power is hiring a senior staff engineer to work on advanced digital power management solutions.

You will work in a demanding technical setting alongside strong engineers, helping the company keep building leading power management ICs.

This role offers high-level impact on the company's technical and business results. You need a deep grasp of multiphase voltage regulator systems, the company's products and customer designs. You will weigh in on product definition and business planning, and you must work across functions through formal channels and direct contact. Because the products are embedded SoCs, you need technical depth well beyond standard power management.

The company makes embedded semiconductor solutions for automotive, industrial, infrastructure and IoT markets, with more than 21,000 engineers in over 30 countries.

Responsibilities

  • Turn market insight into product definition and, ultimately, customer adoption.
  • Join global customer visits for technical marketing, promoting products and uncovering key customer needs.
  • Produce analysis for marketing's business plans that shows the technical merits of the company's solutions against competitors.
  • Write detailed technical Product Requirements Documents that feed design specifications.
  • Resolve conflicts between requirements, capabilities and business expectations with design engineering.
  • Help run FPGA-based prototypes to confirm key features and functions meet expectations.
  • Work with design and other staff to find fixes when targets are missed.
  • Coach colleagues writing Applications Validation Plans, using your experience to cover corner cases.
  • Create valuable IP by solving critical customer problems in novel ways.
  • Help marketing estimate the monetary value of intellectual property.
  • Liaise with key ASIC suppliers to understand their requirements and keep product development aligned.
  • Provide in-depth technical support and training that drives commercial results.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the power management industry.
  • Hands-on experience with firmware-enabled products and with powering large application-specific ICs, such as CPUs and GPUs, in the data center market.
  • Experience with multiphase DC/DC converters powering Intel, AMD or SoC systems.
  • Knowledge or experience of mixed-signal integrated circuits and systems.
  • Experience with digitally enabled power management products.
  • Understanding of control loop theory and how it applies to power converters.
  • Proficiency with a full range of lab equipment, including network analyzers, oscilloscopes and waveform generators.
  • Experience automating lab testing.

Conditions

The company deals with dual-use technology subject to U.S. export control regulations, so a U.S. government export license may be needed before technology is released to certain persons, and the company alone decides whether to apply.

The company is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer that prohibits discrimination on any basis protected by law.

Benefits

  • A competitive benefits package alongside salary, with details shared during the hiring process.
