Senior Solutions Engineer, Injection Molding

Description

The company runs a digital marketplace that connects people with product ideas to manufacturers who can make them, and gives manufacturers tools to grow while letting buyers at Fortune 1000 companies access global manufacturing capacity.

This role is a trusted technical advisor to prospects and customers. You combine hands-on manufacturing knowledge with business judgment to propose solutions to real production problems, working alongside the Sales team as the technical voice in customer conversations.

The role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Run discovery conversations with Sales to find out business and technical needs, and match them to the company's solutions.
• Act as the technical link between molding teams and the customer.
• Advise prospects and customers directly on where the company's technology fits, and build the business case.
• Demonstrate the company's capabilities, including its software quoting platform, in a way that works for both engineers and executives.
• Work with product, sales, quoting, and engineering teams, passing customer insight back to the business and contributing to case studies and marketing materials.
• Represent the company as an industry thought leader at events, webinars, and within the injection molding community.
• Be the internal expert on injection molding and related processes, helping colleagues speak credibly to customers about tooling, mold design, and process capability.
• Manage projects and oversee complex opportunities.

Requirements

• Hands-on manufacturing and process experience in injection molding, compression molding, overmolding, and insert molding. Floor-level experience is strongly preferred.
• An outgoing communicator who can hold a detailed technical discussion with a mold designer and also present to executives.
• Technical empathy: you listen first, look for the real problem behind a request, and translate between technical and business language for both audiences.
• A consultative approach, asking why before proposing what.
• Experience preparing and presenting technical solutions within business proposals.
• Self-motivated, able to manage several long-term projects with little oversight in a fast-paced startup.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a natural ability to build relationships.
• An engineering degree (Mechanical or Plastics preferred) or a related technical degree.
• 5-7+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, or a technical field.
• Proven project management and presentation skills.
• CAD and technical drawing experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in some of the following: New Product Development, Materials Science, Plastics Engineering, GD&T, Mold Design, ISO Certifications, PPAP & Inspection.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.
