Description

The Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) builds technology that supports public safety, affordable broadband, cybersecurity, and digital city services for New York City.

The Senior Solutions Architect is a hands-on technical leader who works across engineering and enterprise strategy. You will help shape systems for SPEED, the program that aims to shorten the time needed to get new construction permits in NYC.

You will review existing systems and design scalable, secure, reliable solutions for data integration, analytics, and reporting. You will also help set the engineering standards behind them.

You will work with business stakeholders, product owners, engineers, and infrastructure teams to lead discovery and turn complex requirements into enterprise data solutions. You will also push forward data quality, governance, security, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery sessions, collect requirements, and turn business needs into technical solutions.
• Work with a cross-functional product team to identify the largest opportunities and workable solutions.
• Design solution architectures that balance performance, security, scalability, and cost.
• Design and maintain enterprise data architectures, including data warehouses, data lakes, and operational data stores.
• Build data models and set standards for data design, integration, storage, and access.
• Assess and adopt current data technologies and architecture patterns.
• Design and tune ETL/ELT pipelines, integrations, and automated workflows.
• Keep data quality, reliability, and performance in check through monitoring and tuning.
• Apply engineering best practices such as CI/CD, version control, and documentation.
• Put in place data governance, master data management (MDM), metadata management, lineage, and cataloging practices.
• Set data quality standards and make sure systems meet security and access requirements.
• Work with business and technical teams to deliver enterprise data solutions.
• Document architecture standards and lead mayoral and modernization initiatives.
• Take on special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or a related field, plus six years of satisfactory full-time experience in enterprise architecture, solutions architecture, network architecture, and/or IT infrastructure systems; or
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college plus ten years of satisfactory full-time experience in enterprise architecture, solutions architecture, network architecture, and/or IT infrastructure systems; or
• Education and/or experience equivalent to either of the above.

Conditions

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Hours: you may be required to work various shifts, including weekends and/or nights or evenings, because the role supports a 24/7 operation.
