Senior Solution Architect

Description

The role is to define the architecture and designs that deliver the key outcomes and epics, in line with the technology strategy, for complex solutions with broad architectural reach.

You will help teams move faster by shaping the forward solution architecture for a lab or platform, working alongside Product Owners, engineering teams and Enterprise Architects.

The hiring team sits in the API & Digital Services Platform, which builds and runs the API ecosystem used by thousands of engineers across the group.

The API Lab covers four product areas: API Gateway, API Marketplace, API Conformance Suite and API Enablement Platform.

The group is investing heavily in cloud, engineering automation and digital services to serve its 28 million customers.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the solution architecture across the API Lab portfolio.
• Build strategic architecture roadmaps that match business priorities and the enterprise technology strategy.
• Keep architecture consistent across products, teams and engineering domains.
• Shape platform decisions that affect thousands of developers.
• Set long-term investment priorities and technology direction.
• Encourage modern engineering practice and cloud-native design.
• Work with Product Owners and Engineering Leads so strategy, architecture and delivery stay aligned.
• Advise senior stakeholders across the organisation.
• Drive new ideas while keeping solutions secure, resilient, supportable and compliant.

Requirements

• Significant solution architecture experience in large enterprise environments.
• A proven record of delivering complex platform and digital transformation programmes.
• Experience setting architecture strategy across several products and technology domains.
• Deep expertise in enterprise API ecosystems.
• A strong grasp of API operating models, governance and lifecycle management.
• Experience influencing senior business and technology stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of architecture and design methods, such as TOGAF and Domain-Driven Design.
• Strong, hands-on knowledge of GCP, Harness, Apigee, KONG, Developer Portal, API ecosystems, security and SRE.

Conditions

Salary: £92,701 to £109,060.

Full-time, 35 hours per week.

Hybrid working: at least two days per week, or 40% of your time, at the Edinburgh office.
