Description

The Global RDK Field Triage Team sits within the RDK development team and protects the quality and reliability of the company's products across broadband, broadcast, streaming and mobile.

The team deploys software on customer premises equipment, works with release and engineering colleagues during integration, and leads investigations into field issues and live data monitoring.

You will work alongside colleagues in the UK, India and the US in an international setting.

The company is a media and entertainment business that delivers TV, sport, news, films and arts through its products and services to millions of people.

Responsibilities

  • As a key engineer on the team, you will lead releases that are delivered on time, at high quality, across many devices.
  • You will own the full release quality and triage cycle: deployment, triage, mitigation, and building tools for release operations.
  • You will work every day with the Development, Release and QA teams.
  • You will evaluate RDK software release quality using key performance metrics and incidents reported from the field.
  • You will find new tools and processes that make release triage engineering work better.
  • You will manage risks and fix problems that threaten release scope, schedule or quality.
  • You will investigate field issues that affect customers, find the root cause, and steer development teams toward the correct fix.
  • You will use strong debugging and problem-solving skills to isolate faults and resolve them quickly.
  • You will watch business intelligence and telemetry dashboards to spot emerging customer problems early and respond.
  • You will work with internal engineering teams and external partners, explaining your findings clearly.
  • You will contribute to and follow Agile practices.
  • You will keep up with new tools, technologies and best practices in development, data analysis, cloud platforms and monitoring.
  • You will help define requirements and suggest improvements to triage tooling and workflows.
  • You will support and mentor teammates by sharing your knowledge.

Requirements

  • Experience in software engineering, systems debugging or technical support, with a practical problem-solving approach.
  • Experience with Linux and at least one of C, C++ or Python.
  • Experience with networking and video or digital TV concepts.
  • Experience with WiFi, broadband or video technologies (a plus).
  • Exposure to data analysis or monitoring tools such as Elastic, Splunk or Datadog (a plus).
  • Understanding of software development practices, version control and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with cross-functional and global teams.
  • A curious, adaptable attitude, with comfort in learning new tools and technologies on the job.
