Senior Software Engineer

Description

The role is Senior Software Engineer, based at 811 Excellence Dr, Bentonville, AR 72716.

The team's work covers data engineering and distributed systems, with an emphasis on large-scale data processing.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned engineering projects by supplying relevant documents, direction and examples, setting short- and long-term solutions and timelines, reviewing proposals with feedback, and running design and code reviews.
• Lead the discovery phase of medium to large projects: review requirements, turn them into technical solutions, collect design documents, product requirements and wireframes, then write and unit test code.
• Keep stakeholders and team members informed of status and issues, work with cross-functional teams and the project manager on the plan, and make sure delivery and hand-offs happen on time.
• Provide technical leadership to the project team, including fixing open issues and bugs.
• Investigate business and production problems by collecting the issue, its impact, criticality and likely root cause, bringing in support teams, and building and executing an action plan based on the results.
• Perform root cause analysis to stop problems from recurring and complete online documentation.
• Answer business users' questions and concerns about technical feasibility and implementation, identify short- and long-term fixes, and drive them to resolution with cross-functional partners.

Requirements

• Minimum education and experience, either option: a Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field plus 2 years of software engineering or related experience, or a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in one of those fields plus 5 years of software engineering or related experience.
• Hands-on experience writing Spark code in Scala and Python.
• Experience writing Hive and SQL scripts, and using Spark SQL and DataFrames for efficient querying and processing in distributed computing.
• Experience designing and building ETL processes.
• Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases.
• Experience working with Avro, Parquet and ORC file formats in Hadoop.
• Experience writing Python scripts for Apache Airflow.
• Experience building integrations between Elasticsearch and Apache Spark for real-time indexing and analysis in a distributed environment.
• Experience developing and tuning Hadoop components for distributed storage and processing of large datasets.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and Git to automate development workflows.
• Experience developing REST APIs in Scala.
• Any amount of experience with these skills is acceptable.

Conditions

Pay range is $129,314.00 to $180,000.00 per year.

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
