Senior Software Engineer, ESG Technology

Description

The ESG Technology platform is containerized and cloud first, built with Python, C, Postgres, Snowflake, TypeScript, React and AWS.

The team is hiring a senior developer with solid Python experience to work on projects already underway and new builds in a fast-changing market.

The role is KM3.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and deliver complex front office investment data and analytics tools, with a focus on ESG data.
• Work independently and proactively with business and technology partners at all levels to define the problem and the opportunity clearly.
• Gather business requirements, asking questions and pushing back where needed.
• Help shape tactical and strategic roadmap planning.
• Reduce technical debt in the tools.
• Suggest ways to improve team practices and help colleagues do the same.
• Lead projects or work streams, giving guidance and expertise.

Requirements

• You have at least 5 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• You are a hands-on expert who can lead development in Python, especially Pandas and Polars.
• You have experience with Postgres, Snowflake, or large datasets, or several of these.
• You have worked with Linux, Docker and cloud development platforms and architecture, ideally GitLab and AWS.
• A background in a natural science or other quantitative field helps, particularly for analytical and data-driven problem solving.
• You can work directly with business stakeholders, shape solution direction and deliver practical results.
• You make decisions with current and future business priorities and fiscal responsibility in mind.
• You can explain business needs and turn them into technology solutions.
• Knowledge of investment research in asset management is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with.NET Core or ASP.NET Core is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with a front-end framework such as React/Redux or Angular, plus TypeScript, is a plus.
• You keep up with many leading technologies.
• You work well in an Agile team that follows Scrum.
• You build long-term solutions and create them with unit, integration and acceptance tests.
• You lead code reviews and give useful feedback on others' designs and code.
• You take ownership of technical debt in your own software.
