Senior Software Engineer

Description

This senior software engineer role covers projects from early design through delivery, along with production support for the business.

The team works with product management, project management, business, and user experience groups.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned engineering projects by supplying documents, direction, and examples.
• Identify short- and long-term solutions and their timelines.
• Review proposed solutions, give feedback, and run design and code reviews of changes.
• Handle business and production issues by collecting the facts, such as the issue, its impact, its criticality, and a likely root cause, then bringing in support teams.
• Build and carry out an action plan, read the results, and decide the next step.
• Run root cause analysis so issues do not return, and complete online documentation.
• Answer business users' questions and concerns, including technical feasibility and implementation approaches, and lead cross-functional partnerships to resolve them.
• Lead discovery on projects of medium and large size to define the high-level design, working with product, project management, business, and user experience teams, and secure approvals across functions.
• Lead and take part in those projects by reviewing requirements and turning them into technical solutions.
• Gather design documents, product requirements, and wireframes, write and develop code, and run unit tests.
• Report status and issues to team members and stakeholders, collaborate across teams, fix open issues and bugs, and deliver and hand off on time.
• Give input to the project manager on the plan and provide leadership to the project team.
• Keep your expertise current and share advice and best practices, aligning work to customer and business needs and building support for your views and reasons.
• Build relationships with key stakeholders, identify business needs, set up the processes needed, track progress and results, spot improvements, and adapt to shifting demands, reorganizations, and new duties.

Requirements

• Hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field, plus 5 years of software engineering or related experience.
• Or hold a master's degree or equivalent in one of those fields, plus 2 years of software engineering or related experience.
• Have hands-on experience with relational databases such as Big Query, DB2, and Teradata.
• Have experience building and maintaining robust SOAP CICS web services for eCommerce applications, and implementing web services on IBM Data Power devices.
• Have experience designing and implementing scalable, high-performance mainframe batch applications in JCL, COBOL, and Easytrieve that process millions of records.
• Have experience integrating with third-party vendors to exchange files securely under HIPAA and medical standards, using SFTP, AS2, and EDI.
• Have experience building and managing advanced reports, analytics, and dashboards with Mobius and Infopac reports.
• Have experience with the mainframe utilities Fileaid, Librarian, SPUFI, SYNCSORT, DFSORT, Abendaid, and Expeditor.
• Have experience reducing MIPS use with efficient SORT, COBOL, and JCL solutions that handle large data volumes and lower annual mainframe cost.
• Have experience tuning performance with DB2 Explain and DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer, tuning JCL, COBOL, and SQL to speed up queries and applications.
• Have experience building DB2 stored procedures and CICS web services for an Angular front end and the POS team to read and update back-end DB2 tables.
• Have experience using DB2 Unload and Load utilities to refresh test data.
• Have experience with CA7 and Control M to orchestrate mainframe workflows, reduce manual work, and support quality assurance and recovery.
• There is no minimum number of years required for the skills above.

Conditions

Base pay is $129,314.00 to $180,000.00 per year.

The role is located at 811 Excellence Dr, Bentonville, AR 72716.
