Description

This senior software engineer role is based in Bentonville, AR 72716, at 811 Excellence Dr.

The work covers the whole development cycle, from gathering requirements and designing solutions to coding, testing, defect work, and ongoing maintenance of applications and components.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and scope requirements by finding existing products and solutions in the current catalogue that can meet business and technical needs.
  • Identify gaps, updates, and changes between customer and business expectations and what current products already do, per iteration where agile is used.
  • Sort requirements into types such as functional and non-functional, or derived, imposed, and emergent.
  • Spot likely risks and issues early in requirements gathering, alert the relevant stakeholders, and propose fixes.
  • Help write user stories for components, applications, and complex features in agile teams.
  • Help design solutions so that processes and applications work together across the modules or components of a product, weighing trade-offs against business requirements.
  • Help turn high level designs into detailed designs with mock screens, pseudocode, and functional logic for specific modules.
  • Write and configure lean code for whole components or applications that meets business, technical, and non-functional needs, with a focus on maintainability, high availability, and scalability.
  • Help choose languages such as JavaScript, Python, or C, plus development standards and tools such as Monday.com, Linx, and Embold.
  • Learn the basics of new languages and frameworks that will be useful for future work, on your own initiative.
  • Write scripts that automate repetitive tasks in CI/CD, testing, and other processes where useful.
  • Build telemetry features as needed, working independently.
  • Make sure security policies are applied in code written or configured for components and applications.
  • Turn customer requirements into test objectives, then design test cases for components and modules.
  • Run test cases to find errors and defects across the full component, and run different test types with suitable tools.
  • Track and analyze defects in components and modules, and run regression tests after every code change to fix them.
  • Review defects from past projects and solutions to prevent similar ones from recurring.
  • Find and fix performance and availability bottlenecks in applications.
  • Handle complex maintenance tasks on applications without supervision.
  • Track key metrics to monitor and assess application performance.
  • Carry out corrective, adaptive, and perfective maintenance, plus re-engineering work.
  • Review application logs, maintenance records, and performance data, and report your findings.
  • Assess change requests to decide which are valid and feasible.
  • Make sure the project stays on track against approved milestones and timelines.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent in computer science, computer information systems, or a related field, plus 1 year of software engineering or related experience, OR a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in the same fields plus 3 years of software engineering or related experience.
  • Experience designing and building backend APIs and microservices in JavaScript and Node.js.
  • Experience building interactive user interfaces with React, Angular, and JavaScript.
  • Experience designing database schemas for microservices in MySQL and Cosmos DB.
  • Experience building interactive native mobile apps with React Native, Redux, and React Sagas.
  • Experience creating front-end web pages with React JS, Redux, CSS, and Angular.
  • Experience setting up continuous deployment and integration pipelines with Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience implementing secure authentication and authorization with OAuth, JWT, and Firebase Auth.
  • Experience scaling frontend and backend API flows with SOLID design patterns, and improving performance with advanced data structures and algorithms such as hashing.
  • Experience using Git for source control, teamwork, and workflow improvement across codebases in React, Node.js, C, and Java.
  • Experience developing and deploying microservices on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Any amount of experience with these skills is accepted.
