The role is a senior software engineering position based at 811 Excellence Dr, Bentonville, AR 72716.
The posting covers the full cycle of a software component, from design and requirements through coding, testing and monitoring.
Responsibilities
Design solutions, including software architecture, distributed systems, scalability, design patterns, disaster recovery, tech stacks, MVP scope, non-functional requirements and telemetry.
Help make processes and applications work together across specific components and modules, and weigh trade-offs against business requirements.
Help turn high-level designs into detailed designs with mock screens, pseudo code and functional logic for specific modules.
Analyse requirements and scope, including traceability matrices, risk, cost, business objectives, requirement classification and user stories, and look for existing products or solutions that meet business or technical needs.
Compare customer or business expectations with existing products and solutions, identify gaps and changes, and include this in each agile iteration.
Classify requirements as functional or non-functional, derived, imposed or emergent, and so on.
Spot solution risks during requirements gathering, tell the relevant stakeholders, and recommend corrective steps.
Contribute to user stories for components, applications and complex work under agile methodology.
Review coding standards and guidelines across languages (including JavaScript, Python and C), frameworks (including ActiveX,.Net, Cocoa and the Android application framework), tools (including Monday.com, Linx and Embold) and platforms (including Microsoft Azure, AWS and Apple iOS), plus quality, safety and security standards such as PCI.
Use emerging tools and technologies, telemetry included, to write lean code that meets business, technical, maintainability, availability and scalability needs.
Help choose languages, development standards and tools for coding and configuration.
Write scripts that automate repetitive tasks in CI/CD, testing and other processes where relevant.
Build telemetry features independently when needed.
Make sure security policy requirements are applied during development and configuration.
Plan and run testing: test cases, objectives, strategy, types, tools (such as Selenium for automation, Jira for agile and Eggplant for mobile), environments and root cause analysis.
Map customer requirements to test objectives, then write and run test cases to find errors and defects across the whole component, using the right tool for each type of test.
