Description

The Builder Platform team provides a smooth, consistent and governed platform for agents, workflows and core engineering tools used across the company.

The team runs the company's own product as its first customer, works with groups across the company on their real work, measures the productivity that results, and passes what it learns into the cloud product, SDKs and open-source frameworks that customers can use.

Responsibilities

  • Set direction for the agent platform, covering how agents and agentic workflows are deployed, run, evaluated, governed and improved, and keep it reliable and scalable.
  • Design the AI infrastructure agents depend on, including LLM and MCP gateways with guardrails, fallback, usage and cost limits, and rules for rolling out models.
  • Build and run agents and workflows that take engineering work from issue to production and business work from trigger to result, and expand them across teams.
  • Guide the development of source control and CI infrastructure, along with the developer tools that smooth builders' work and remove friction.
  • Work with leaders in Engineering, Product, Sales and G&A to find places where AI can speed up work and improve results.
  • Set best practices for agents and agentic tooling, create enablement material and paved paths, and push adoption across the organization.
  • Build measurement and feedback loops on usage, reliability and cost to quantify the productivity gained, guide priorities and shape the roadmap.
  • Turn what the company learns from running its own product into validated requirements for the cloud product, SDKs and agent harness, own the feedback loop with product leadership, and lead the contribution to an open-source reference architecture that customer platform teams can adopt.
  • Mentor engineers and raise the standard for technical design, delivery and use of agents and agentic tools.
  • Take part in the on-call rotation and drive changes that cut operational load and improve the internal user experience.

Requirements

  • Solid software engineering fundamentals and a record of leading the design, delivery and running of production-quality internal platforms or developer tools.
  • Hands-on use of agentic coding tools like Codex and Claude Code, and experience setting practices and driving their adoption across teams.
  • Proficiency in at least one language used at the company, such as Go, TypeScript/JavaScript, Python or Java, and the judgment to make practical, high-impact technical choices.
  • Experience designing and scaling workflow automation or internal tools, such as CLI tools, services, GitHub automation or cloud automation, used across teams or the whole organization.
  • Good judgment on when to standardize and when to allow flexibility, and how to cut friction without weakening reliability, security or long-term maintainability.
  • Ability to work across functions, including with non-traditional developers, and turn unclear needs into scalable solutions people adopt.
  • Skill in combining data and qualitative feedback to set success metrics, prioritize, and measure impact.
  • Clear written communication, including documentation that lets people help themselves and spreads knowledge across teams.
  • Nice to Haves: experience building internal agents and running an agent platform.
  • Nice to Haves: experience building and running applications on the company's workflow product.
