Senior Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy and support scalable backend applications and services in Java and Spring Boot.
• Create and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices for high-volume business systems.
• Lead technical work across the lifecycle, from solution design through production rollout and support.
• Build with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security and related Java tools.
• Design and support event-driven architectures using Kafka or other messaging platforms.
• Connect applications to relational and NoSQL databases so data access is efficient and performance stays strong.
• Apply sound engineering practice to security, authentication, authorization, API security, resilience and data protection.
• Write thorough unit and automated tests with JUnit and Mockito to raise code quality.
• Support CI/CD, automated deployment, containers and cloud-native work using Git, Maven or Gradle, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Use AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or similar tools for coding, testing, debugging, documentation and productivity, following responsible and secure practices.
• Review code, set development standards and check that solutions meet engineering, security, performance and maintainability goals.
• Investigate complex application and production problems, run root-cause analysis and fix them to improve reliability and performance.
• Work with architects, product owners, engineers and other stakeholders to turn business needs into technical solutions.
• Find chances to modernize applications, reduce technical debt, automate processes and improve engineering efficiency.
• Mentor other engineers and share knowledge to keep engineering practices consistent.
• Take part in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, technical design discussions, estimation, planning and continuous improvement.
• Keep up with backend, cloud, security and generative AI developments and judge how they fit enterprise applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5 to 6 years of relevant experience.
• Preferred: solid hands-on experience building backend applications with Java and Spring Boot.
• Preferred: experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Preferred: good working knowledge of the Spring Framework, including Spring MVC, Spring Data and Spring Security.
• Preferred: experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Preferred: strong SQL and relational database skills.
• Preferred: NoSQL experience, a plus.
• Preferred: experience with Node, NPM and React, producing clean and secure front-end code.
• Preferred: experience with Kafka or other event-driven or messaging technologies.
• Preferred: familiarity with cloud platforms and building scalable backend services.
• Preferred: experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Git and Maven or Gradle.
• Preferred: strong experience with unit and automated testing, including JUnit and Mockito.
• Preferred: experience building high-volume, scalable, reliable and secure backend services.
• Preferred: understanding of application security, authentication, authorization and secure API development.
• Preferred: exposure to AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or similar, for coding, testing, debugging, documentation and productivity.
• Preferred: familiarity with using AI coding tools responsibly and securely, especially with proprietary or sensitive code.
• Preferred: strong debugging, troubleshooting and performance optimization skills.
• Preferred: experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Preferred: prior work in banking, financial services, payments or other regulated environments, a plus.
