Description

The company is a legal data intelligence business whose cloud platform, built on AI, helps law firms, corporations and government agencies sort large volumes of material for litigation, investigations, regulatory inquiries and data breach responses.

The team builds a Microsoft Word-based agentic tool that lets lawyers edit and draft documents in real time, with each change grounded in evidence. It is a small, founder-led group inside the company, led by Dorna Moini (CEO) and Pierre Martin (CTO of the team and VP of Engineering at the company).

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship agents and agent features from start to finish, covering tools, prompts, context assembly, structured outputs, guardrails, services and the frontend in Word or on the web.
  • Create and maintain evaluations for the features you own, use them to guide decisions, and instrument production to track acceptance, latency and cost per agent.
  • Help improve shared infrastructure, including the harness, the context and retrieval pipeline, model routing and observability.
  • Follow a modern development lifecycle: small, frequent commits, feature-flagged releases, quick rollbacks and daily use of agentic engineering tools.
  • Investigate non-deterministic failures, retrieval misses, tool-call errors and model regressions.
  • Take part in design reviews, write clear technical documentation, review other engineers' code and mentor Advanced engineers.
  • Work with product, design and, occasionally, customers to define what good output looks like for a specific legal task.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years building production software in service-oriented, continuously deployed teams, including shipping LLM-powered features to real users in a launched product, not only experiments.
  • Hands-on experience building full-stack web and agentic applications, covering API use across providers, function calling, structured outputs, prompt and context engineering, retrieval-augmented generation and evaluation basics.
  • Experience developing cloud services on AWS, Azure or an equivalent, including containers, CI/CD and production debugging, and a willingness to build deep expertise in them.
  • Fluency in TypeScript or Python, and the ability to work across a React frontend, Node or Python services and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience writing and maintaining tests that catch regressions.
  • Solid grounding in API design, data modeling, concurrency, performance and reliability.
  • Clear written and spoken English, with the ability to explain technical decisions briefly to non-engineers.
  • A strong preference for simplicity, shown through open-source work, side projects or past professional work.
  • Skills listed for the role: Automation, Data Analysis, Database Management, Network Architecture, Performance Optimizations, Problem Solving, Project Management, Software Development, System Designs, Technical Leadership.
