Description

This senior software engineering role focuses on keeping the infotainment and vehicle computing platform working reliably, since drivers use and see it more than almost any other system. The goal is fewer blank screens, frozen interfaces, lost audio, and unreliable features.

You will turn feedback from customers and dealers into lasting software fixes that improve how owners experience their vehicles.

The scope covers display, audio, media, camera, and other everyday in-vehicle functions, plus the diagnostic tools used to repair them.

You will work across software, field quality, dealer support, and engineering to shorten the time from a customer problem to a fix, for current vehicles and future releases.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in-depth debugging of field issues in the IVI and VCU, covering reproduction, log and trace analysis, and root-cause work across teams.
  • Analyze warranty reports, diagnostic logs, and telemetry to find systemic faults and ways to improve reliability and serviceability.
  • Build and extend automated tests and repeatable bench setups for field issues, and work with the quality team to close gaps in test coverage.
  • Design and build diagnosability features in the IVI and VCU stack, such as structured logging, health monitoring, fault injection hooks, and self-test and guided diagnostics.
  • Build and grow automation and AI-assisted diagnostics that link symptoms, DTCs, and warranty data to speed up fault isolation and suggested fixes.
  • Work with dealer support, field quality, and internal tooling teams to improve technician and support workflows, including diagnostic UIs, troubleshooting flows, and repair guidance.
  • Set and enforce engineering standards for observability, fault reporting, error handling, and debuggability across IVI and VCU components.
  • Work with connectivity, telematics, cloud, and vehicle platform teams so serviceability needs show up in interfaces, protocols, and integration contracts.
  • Act as the go-to expert on VCU serviceability, mentoring engineers in diagnosable design and field-issue triage.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering in automotive or embedded systems, with substantial time on IVI or VCU development.
  • Strong C++ for resource-constrained, real-time, or embedded systems, and solid Python for tooling, data analysis, and automation on diagnostic and warranty data.
  • Hands-on work with automotive platforms and middleware such as Android Automotive OS, embedded Linux, QNX, AUTOSAR Adaptive, SOME/IP, DDS, or similar.
  • Solid grasp of vehicle integration and diagnostics: CAN, Automotive Ethernet, UDS and other diagnostic protocols, ECU communication patterns, and vehicle signal architecture.
  • A record of solving complex, intermittent field issues end to end through log and trace analysis, bench reproduction, and cross-team investigation.
  • Experience shipping production software into vehicles through OEM release processes and automotive lifecycles.
  • Proven technical leadership: planning investigations, coordinating stakeholders, and helping engineers build debugging and serviceability skills.
  • Experience with dealer or technician diagnostic tools, service workflows, or field quality engineering.
  • Experience with graphics or HMI stacks and IVI user flows, especially around error handling, fault indication, or technician modes.
  • Familiarity with connectivity and telematics used for remote diagnostics and data collection.
  • Exposure to OTA updates, cybersecurity under ISO 21434, or software-defined vehicle architectures and how they affect serviceability.
  • Experience building data and automation pipelines for diagnostics and AI or ML troubleshooting, such as fault classification, symptom clustering, or recommendation systems.
