Description

Job category: Software Engineering.

The team is a fast, senior group working like a startup inside the company, following a recent acquisition. The founders and engineers who built the original business manage you, so you get small-team autonomy with the scale and trust of a large company.

The product works and customers like it. The team has moved past the 0 to 1 stage and is now in the 1 to 100 stage, scaling architecture for global demand and hardening systems for enterprise resilience.

You would be a senior technical staff member (SMTS) in an embedded reliability team, working with engineers and product owners on the operations platform for AI agents.

Responsibilities

  • Set the reliability direction for major product areas, moving systems from startup-era design to highly available, global enterprise scale.
  • Work with PMTS-level engineers on infrastructure strategy, giving senior input on system design, capacity planning and finding bottlenecks.
  • Maintain and improve automated environments, making the infrastructure-as-plugins model sturdier and easier for developers to use.
  • Support AI/ML infrastructure growth so models get the GPU capacity and data pipelines they need for real-time supply chain insights.
  • Lead the hardening of the observability stack during the 1 to 100 phase. Build tooling that prevents incidents and telemetry that explains them, not just respond to outages.
  • Investigate SQL optimization, API latency and cross-service communication to keep the data-heavy supply chain platform fast under heavy load.
  • Use AI tools such as Claude Code and Codex to automate routine operations work and speed up infrastructure delivery.
  • Take part in design reviews so new agentic capabilities are built to scale from the start.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in SRE, production engineering or backend engineering, with a strong focus on operations and scale.
  • Past experience helping a product through high growth, including the technical debt and architecture changes of the 1 to 100 phase.
  • Write and review production-level code in Golang, TypeScript or Python, and treat automation as a software engineering problem.
  • Strong hands-on skill with Kubernetes, Terraform/OpenTofu and AWS, GCP or Azure.
  • A proven record of instrumenting applications and platforms with SLO-based monitoring and alerting.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, including debugging interactions between microservices, databases and AI agents.
  • Experience on a senior team of Principal engineers, leading specific initiatives while supporting the wider group's technical vision.
  • Demonstrated use of modern AI development tools to move faster and build more reliable systems.
  • Ownership: independently identify issues and carry the solution through to final implementation, since the team operates with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Even better if: M.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Even better if: strong PostgreSQL experience at scale, including partitioning, indexing and query tuning.
  • Even better if: advanced knowledge of microservice orchestration and durability patterns, with hands-on Temporal for workflow reliability and Istio service meshes for secure, observable service-to-service communication in high-growth SaaS.

Conditions

Candidates should apply for no more than 3 roles within 12 months so that efforts are not duplicated.

Benefits

  • Benefits and resources are meant to help you find balance and do your best work.
  • AI agents are meant to help your impact grow faster.
