Description

The company is a medical technology business focused on diagnosing and managing coronary artery disease, the leading cause of death worldwide, using AI-driven, non-invasive testing.

Its main product is an AI-based, non-invasive cardiac test aligned with the ACC/AHA chest pain guidelines. It produces a colour-coded 3D model of a patient's coronary arteries showing how blockages affect blood flow to the heart.

The product line covers three areas across the CCTA pathway: finding stenoses in coronary arteries, assessing coronary blood flow, and characterising and measuring coronary atherosclerosis. The product pipeline and the team are both growing.

The company is publicly traded (HTFL), has received international recognition for healthcare innovation, is backed by medical societies worldwide, is cleared for use in the US, UK, Europe, Japan and Canada, and has been used for more than 750,000 patients worldwide.

This role is central to building one comprehensive platform for managing heart disease. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help design the architecture and data models for a new distributed system that connects the company's cloud services with complex on-premise hospital Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems securely and reliably.

You will own significant components in the interoperability area, improving how clinical data is processed, modelled and delivered. At this level, you will shape architecture for key components, mentor junior engineers and apply strong software engineering practices.

You will help the platform scale efficiently while meeting the compliance, security and quality standards set by the FDA and other regulators.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build the interoperability services, including the technical link between on-premise hospital EHR systems and the company's AWS cloud environment.
  • Help structure complex clinical data and set out data modelling and persistence strategies for a unified platform for heart disease.
  • Build and maintain data acquisition and ingestion pipelines that extract and normalise patient data from varied hospital networks, keeping them seamless, scalable and secure.
  • Build reliable, secure, low-maintenance APIs using REST, FHIR and HL7 to connect on-premise hospital components to the cloud.
  • Follow sound development practices and make sure data flows and integrations meet FDA and other regulatory standards.
  • Work with a team of strong engineers, mentor junior engineers and take part in system design discussions.

Requirements

  • Strong Python skills, with experience applying Domain-Driven Design and building microservices and event-driven architectures at scale.
  • Experience integrating with EHR systems and using healthcare data standards such as FHIR and HL7.
  • Data modelling and designing scalable persistence layers for complex, high-volume systems.
  • Experience building in modern cloud environments and designing secure RESTful APIs and applications.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, contributing to system design, and setting strict development practices and test strategies.
  • Experience designing testable systems and leading unit, functional and system-level testing for mission-critical applications.
  • Commitment to a single, unified platform for managing and treating heart disease.
  • Ability to raise the quality bar for software and development processes across the team.
  • Ability to own features and components, working autonomously in your area while growing into broader architectural responsibility.
  • Open communication, willingness to raise challenges and guide technical debate constructively.
  • Practical evaluation and adoption of modern technologies to solve interoperability and scaling problems.
  • Experience advancing Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) and data acquisition in cardiology.
  • Experience working within strict regulatory environments (FDA, HIPAA) to deliver life-saving medical applications securely.
  • Experience solving problems in distributed, highly available and resilient systems for critical healthcare operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience.

Conditions

The base salary is estimated at $180,000 to $215,000, plus bonus and equity.
