Description

The company is building an AI operating system for the industrial supply chain, covering the warehouses, manufacturers, logistics providers and workers that move physical goods.

It began with labor, supplying industrial businesses with steady temporary workforces, and became one of the fastest growing staffing companies in the US.

It now offers AI agents that help logistics providers, manufacturers, 3PLs and other industrial firms automate manual work, get insights from their data and make better decisions.

Backers include Founders Fund, Khosla Ventures and General Catalyst.

This is a founding role on the Agents team, leading the agentic platform that pulls together marketplace data, connects to customers' operational systems and takes actions inside their facility workflows.

The Applied AI team deploys these agents across the product. You own the agents, evals and model strategy they rely on.

You will work with the CTO on the core architecture for building, evaluating and deploying agents, set the quality and reliability bar, and bring outside experience in agent building, forward-deployed customer work and data products to a 0-to-1 product.

Responsibilities

  • Design the agent platform from end to end: the orchestration runtime, the eval and observability stack, the integration layer to internal and customer WMS, TMS and ERP systems, and the shared patterns each agent follows.
  • Make the key technical calls on model strategy, harness design, retrieval and memory, the tool and MCP interface, and how quality gets measured.
  • Spend time on site with customers and operators, and turn what you learn into product changes and deployment patterns that can be repeated.
  • Treat evaluation as serious engineering by building datasets, graders, regression suites and experimentation tools.
  • Recruit, mentor and raise the standard for the engineers you work alongside.
  • Work with the CTO, product and operations leaders on a multi-year platform roadmap.

Requirements

  • You have built agents that held up in real conditions, shipping agent systems to production at scale. You have designed harnesses, chosen orchestration patterns, owned evals and handled on-call duty.
  • You have firm views on when to use prompting, fine-tuning, retrieval or plain code.
  • You are comfortable on a customer's warehouse floor and in a design doc alike. You learn how an industry actually runs, including WMS quirks, shift patterns and exception handling, and let that shape the architecture.
  • You set direction by building the reference implementation. You choose foundational tools, bring in model providers, design eval infrastructure and help others grow.
  • You have clear opinions on eval datasets, prompt versioning, agent observability, and where a clean abstraction turns into over-engineering.
  • 7+ years of software engineering, including 2+ years of hands-on production work on LLM or agent systems.
  • Strong in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js, with experience designing distributed systems, APIs and data models on PostgreSQL, and using messaging such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar.
  • You have owned a non-trivial production agent system covering orchestration, tool use, retrieval, evals, observability, and cost and latency tuning.
  • Your background fits at least one of: a vertical AI or AI-agent company, a forward-deployed engineering role, or an AI-native data company.
  • Bonus: experience in supply chain, logistics or industrial settings.
  • You have led 0-to-1 builds at early-stage companies, are comfortable with ambiguity and take ownership by default.
  • You communicate well in writing and out loud, can run a customer workshop, write a design doc and recruit teammates.

Conditions

The base pay range for this role is $240,000 to $300,000. The range reflects market analysis and other factors, and the company may go outside it for candidates whose qualifications differ significantly from the listed requirements.
