Senior Software Engineer

Description

The team's goal is to confirm in real time that the person on screen is real and is who they say they are. The platform is machine-learning based and combines image recognition, facial verification, face recognition, facial anti-spoofing (liveness detection) and behavior analysis to make identity decisions.

The company is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale real-time verification services, where security, scalability and maintainability are central.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and evolution of the architecture for a strategically critical product area, making decisions on scalability, security and maintainability that will hold for years.
• Lead major architecture work, including real-time matching at scale, resilient event-driven services, and the CI/CD and observability foundations that keep them reliable.
• Set and raise engineering standards, and mentor and develop the engineers around you.
• Work closely with engineers, ML data scientists and specialists to turn complex identity problems into working products, and align product and dependency teams.
• Build scalable, maintainable APIs and event-driven services that other teams and external customers rely on.

Requirements

• More than 5 years of experience building and running large-scale applications, ideally in Python.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems, modular design and SOLID principles, with a record of owning architecture.
• Experience building scalable, maintainable APIs and working with message queuing.
• Solid command of CI/CD and monitoring, and of running reliable, high-throughput services in production.
• Familiarity with a range of testing approaches to build robust, reliable software.
• A working understanding of relational databases and structured logging.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to get engineers and non-engineers aligned behind a technical vision.
• Self-directed, and able to weigh technical and product trade-offs to reach outcomes that serve both customers and engineers.
• A history of mentoring engineers and explaining your solutions to non-technical people.
• Some experience with mobile SDKs (iOS, Android) or with React for the web.
• Previous work on a B2B or SaaS product.
