Description

The company makes medical technology and has a global workforce working to improve patient care.

The team builds connected devices for the operating room, including compact, high-performance embedded systems for edge computing and real-time guidance during surgery. The work draws on the latest computer vision and aims to raise the standard of surgical care worldwide.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will write mainly modern C++ to extend the services on current devices and the next generation, keeping the codebase easy to maintain.

Responsibilities

  • Work with multidisciplinary teams spanning application software, embedded systems, and cloud platforms.
  • Build enhancements to the core application software for existing intra-operative devices.
  • Own the maintainability and reliability of that software, and help build the software stack for the next generation of devices.
  • Build and improve device monitoring and cloud connectivity.
  • Investigate, debug, and fix issues raised during testing and support.
  • Take part in security and regulatory compliance processes.
  • Write robust, secure-by-design software suited to a medical-grade system.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • A BS or MS in computer, electrical, or electronics engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Current experience writing high-quality, high-performance code in modern C++ (C++17 or later).
  • Strong knowledge of Unix or Linux environments.
  • Experience with inter-process communication frameworks such as gRPC, DDS, or Zenoh.
  • Experience with deployed hardware systems and remote device management.
  • Experience with unit testing, including test-driven development and frameworks such as Google Test (gtest) or similar.
  • You solve problems independently but ask for help when needed.
  • You can reason through the consequences of changes across a highly interconnected system used in varied environments.
  • A strong focus on craftsmanship and code quality.
  • Preferred: experience with GUI frameworks such as React or Qt, and familiarity with regulated industries such as medical devices, automotive, finance, or aerospace. Knowledge of AWS, systems engineering principles, and core security concepts is also valued.
  • These statements describe the general nature and level of the work, and are not a complete list of duties and skills.

Conditions

You must be able to commute frequently to the London office, with 2 days per week onsite.

Salary range in the United Kingdom: 76,800.00 GBP to 115,200.00 GBP. The final salary depends on objective, job-related criteria such as experience, skills, and qualifications, under the company's compensation framework.

Equal-opportunity statement omitted.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and a flexible benefits package.
  • A wide range of benefits, resources, and compensation plans to support you at each career and life stage.
  • Eligible for the short-term the company Incentive Plan (MIP).
