Description

The company is forming an Engineering Enablement team and is hiring a Senior Software Engineer who likes work that makes other engineers more effective.

The role centres on internal tools, services and platform capabilities rather than one customer-facing product, helping engineering teams ship safely and quickly.

You will have room to shape a roadmap that is still taking form, spot ways to improve how software is built, and turn those ideas into working solutions.

This is a hands-on senior role: you write and ship code, lead complex work from start to finish, work with engineering leadership, mentor others and help set better practices. You may also explore how AI-enabled development tools can improve engineering, used with care.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and ship high-quality software, including internal developer tools and shared platform capabilities that boost engineer productivity.
  • Take complex work from first idea to delivery: define the problem, compare options and bring the right people together to make the improvement happen.
  • Help build resilient engineering foundations, covering architecture, CI/CD, observability, documentation and solutions that are easy to maintain.
  • Support other engineers through mentoring, technical discussions, careful code reviews and clear documentation.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with C and.NET or TypeScript, including designing and building REST APIs.
  • Experience writing and maintaining automated tests across the development lifecycle, with solid continuous integration and continuous delivery practice.
  • Ability to contribute to system and architecture decisions with a focus on resilience, scalability and maintainability.
  • Experience driving significant engineering work from idea to delivery, working independently while keeping stakeholders and other engineers on board.
  • Clear communication and an enabler mindset: you explain technical decisions well, write useful documentation, mentor others and enjoy building tools or services that make engineers' work easier.
  • Thoughtful use of AI-assisted development. Tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude are welcome if you already use them, and you understand where they add value and where engineering judgement is still needed.
  • Useful but not essential: experience with Microsoft Azure or another Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) cloud.
  • Useful but not essential: experience building internal developer tooling, shared engineering services or reusable platform capabilities.
  • Useful but not essential: experience with observability, metrics, data analysis or shared engineering tooling.
  • Useful but not essential: experience with event-driven architectures or working across more than one programming language.
  • Useful but not essential: experience setting engineering standards or technical direction across teams, or helping recruit and onboard engineers.

Conditions

This is a permanent position based on a hybrid work model.

The company welcomes candidates from all backgrounds, does not discriminate on protected characteristics, and will make reasonable adjustments for disabled candidates or those with caring responsibilities during applications and interviews; tell the company if you need one.

Benefits

  • You will join while the Engineering Enablement team is being formed, so you can help decide what it becomes instead of inheriting a fixed roadmap.
