Responsibilities

• Join the data export team, which builds, runs and improves the data export system at scale.
• The system is a Kafka-based event pipeline that processes tens of billions of messages each day, and customers use it to study user behaviour in near real time.
• Take projects from idea to production and improve existing high-scale systems.
• Apply your past experience and skills to the hard engineering problems of running a critical data streaming system, working closely with a capable team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of full-stack development experience
• A track record of building foundational systems at scale and leading software projects that meaningfully advanced your organisation's goals
• You lead by example, mentor engineers well and make the people around you stronger
• You work on your own initiative, communicate and organise well, and do your best work in a close-knit team
• Experience with Kafka at scale or a comparable technology
• Professional experience with distributed systems and/or microservices
• Bonus: experience with Java, Kotlin, Confluent or React

Conditions

For candidates based in Canada, the starting base pay range is CA$167,682 to CA$277,431 per year, with expected on-target earnings of CA$186,400 to CA$308,400 per year including performance-based or variable pay such as bonus or commission.
