You will join the data platform team at the Timisoara business center as a senior software engineer with tech lead responsibilities.
The role covers ingestion and integration for an enterprise data platform built on a lakehouse architecture.
The group was founded in 1871 and reported €19.7 billion in sales for 2025. It employs about 78,000 people in 54 countries and markets.
The industrial materials unit has about 20,000 employees (as of March 2026) across more than 60 sites. Its 2025 sales were about €6.0 billion, with core branches in Asia, Europe, and North and South America.
Responsibilities
You own and govern the ingestion and integration architecture of the enterprise data platform.
You define and evolve scalable, reusable, production-grade data interfaces for every source system and business domain.
You act as design authority and technical lead for all ingestion and integration components, keeping quality, scalability and reliability high.
You set and enforce software engineering and architecture standards for platform work, covering CI/CD, testing, observability and design patterns.
You are the main escalation point for complex ingestion, integration and platform problems.
You guide a distributed group of software and data engineers building production ingestion services and platform components.
You work with platform architecture, cybersecurity, infrastructure and business IT teams to design systems that are secure, compliant and sustainable.
You drive consistency and reuse across platform patterns, frameworks and engineering practice.
You define ingestion frameworks for batch, streaming, API-based and event-driven data.
You set rules for structured and unstructured formats (JSON, CSV, XML), including schema evolution and compatibility.
You design and review production ingestion and integration patterns for fault tolerance, observability and performance.
You define API design standards, reliability patterns and contract management.
You lead design reviews for high-risk or complex pipelines, focusing on scalability, security and maintainability.
You help engineers build error handling, retry logic, orchestration and monitoring.
You work with system owners to define interface specifications and integration strategy.
You align ingestion architecture with platform design, governance and business requirements.
You enable ingestion for data science, machine learning and AI/LLM use cases.
You maintain and evolve reusable libraries, templates and framework components.
You promote best practice in code reviews, unit and integration testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
You write and keep current architecture blueprints, design guidelines and engineering standards.
You create reusable architecture patterns for the lakehouse-based data platform.
You advise on scalability strategy, resource use and performance optimization.
You support cost visibility, usage optimization and efficient resource consumption across the platform.
Requirements
A degree in computer science or a related field.
6, 10 years in software engineering and data platform development, mostly on large, enterprise-grade systems.
A record of technical leadership and architectural ownership in distributed systems or data platforms.
Hands-on production experience with Scala or Java, and with Python.
A solid grasp of data integration patterns: APIs, CDC, streaming and event-driven architectures.
Experience designing and governing reusable frameworks, platform components and engineering standards.
Strong knowledge of CI/CD, version control, automated testing and observability.
Experience with Microsoft Azure or another hyperscaler.
Familiarity with lakehouse and data warehouse architectures. Databricks experience is a plus.
The ability to mentor engineers and work with global teams and stakeholders.
Candidates whose experience is mainly notebook-based processing (e.g. Jupyter, ad-hoc PySpark) without production deployment, dashboarding, analytics or BI tools, or SQL-only roles without software engineering are not a fit.
Conditions
Hybrid work model.
Based at the Timisoara business center.
