Senior Software Engineer, Java and AI Development - Vice President

Description

The team is building AI-driven features on top of its Java backend, and this role sits at the point where backend engineering meets AI agents.

You will build and ship high-performance applications with Java, Spring Boot and MongoDB, with a large share of the work going into AI agents, prompt design and the Google ADK, aimed at business needs.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy high-performance backend services in Java and Spring Boot backed by MongoDB.
• Create, connect and release AI agents that make applications smarter and more automated.
• Refine prompts using advanced techniques to get better results from large language models and other AI systems.
• Use the Google ADK (Agent Development Kit) to build, test and release AI-powered features.
• Run feasibility studies, produce time and cost estimates, and help with IT planning and risk assessment for new applications.
• Oversee every stage of development, from analysis and design through construction, testing and rollout.
• Support business users with applications, including day-to-day operational issues.
• Propose and add security controls after go-live, checking that the design and behaviour hold up.
• Serve as the application development expert for senior stakeholders and team members.
• Make sure work follows applicable laws, rules and company policy, using sound ethical judgment.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience analysing systems and programming software applications.
• Substantial hands-on experience designing and building applications in Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with MongoDB or a similar NoSQL database for storing data.
• Proven experience designing, building and integrating AI agents into software systems.
• Practical knowledge of prompt engineering principles and good practice.
• Familiarity with the Google ADK or comparable AI agent development kits and platforms.
• A track record of delivering projects successfully.
• Able to work with limited direct supervision and to make independent judgment calls.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Base salary range is $120,800.00 to $170,800.00.
