Description

You will lead the development of the Network Control ADMS solution as a Senior Software Development Manager.

The role directs multi-disciplinary, global development teams and oversees the planning, building, management and tracking of releases that must hit agreed scope, timeline and budget while meeting quality targets.

You will report to the Global Head of Network Control Solutions Development and work with the PMO, product management, software engineering, testing, quality, security and other global stakeholders throughout delivery.

The company builds network control software, and this team is responsible for keeping delivery on time, on budget and predictable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead global, multicultural teams from planning through release, keeping work on schedule, within budget and aligned with quality goals.
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle for your teams, including AI-based SDLC practices.
  • Enforce the development processes set by each discipline practice area and support the governance reviews that check them.
  • Perform product design, bug verification and beta support when needed, including the technical research this requires.
  • Act as the escalation point for issues beyond team authority, resolving conflicts over scheduling, resources and technical matters.
  • Work with senior engineers to shape the technical design and approach for each product.
  • Set standards for software development and documentation, confirm designs meet requirements and deliver quality work on tight timelines.
  • Manage project prioritization, planning, feature scope, stakeholder relations and tracking of external commitments.
  • Support scrum ceremonies where needed: planning, retrospectives, backlog grooming and review or demo.
  • Clear impediments quickly and cost-effectively, and serve as the link between your teams and other teams and business lines.
  • Track and report key metrics such as burn-down, burn-up and cumulative flow charts.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in power system engineering, or in computer science with a power system engineering background.
  • More than 10 years of ADMS-related work experience, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Exposure to network control and related software, such as SCADA, EMS, GMS and power system applications.
  • Experience leading global, multicultural teams across time zones while juggling several priorities and unclear requirements.
  • Practical problem solving, strategic thinking, critical thinking and a self-starting approach.
  • Strong communication with all levels of staff and with internal and external customers, including presentations, negotiations and written reports.
  • Ability to work at pace while keeping the strategic direction in view and going into detail when needed.
  • Willingness to get hands-on and help solve problems directly.
  • A record of delivering under tight schedules and on technically demanding programs.
  • International experience with global projects and multicultural collaboration.
  • A proactive, collaborative and flexible attitude.
  • Background in software architecture and AI-based SDLC.
