This is a Senior Software Developer role on the Monetization team. You will lead technical work on service architecture, product APIs, and data modeling, and build at startup pace with modern Java, MySQL, DynamoDB, gRPC, GraphQL, Kafka, and microservices. Expect a mix of hands-on coding and technical leadership, working with product and engineering to shape both technical choices and business results.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable systems and infrastructure that support the company's backend services.
• Measure your work closely, analyze the results, and form hypotheses that guide product changes through A/B tests.
• Set up monitoring and tests for your APIs and services so you can see their real-time health and performance.
• Join product discussions, propose technical approaches, and shape the roadmap with data and system insights.
• Work with product managers and stakeholders to define requirements, weigh tradeoffs, and turn business goals into technical designs.
• Use metrics and experiment results to check product hypotheses and guide decisions.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in a software engineering role.
• Experience designing highly scalable, high-performance microservices and storage layers with technologies such as Java, Play, Scala, MySQL, Cassandra, Solr, or Kafka.
• Experience working in fast-moving teams that deploy often.
• Experience using data and metrics to guide technical and product decisions.
• A track record of building and launching products, with a solid grasp of API design, system architecture, and data architecture.

Conditions

Pay is zone-based and set by your location, experience, and role level.

This role can only be filled in Toronto, Canada.

The targeted base salary range for this role in Canada is CAD $137,600 to $172,000. Final pay depends on experience, education, transferable skills, business needs, and location. The range may change over time and may include variable pay, equity, and benefits.
