Description

The company makes Work AI software that helps employees find information, get work done with an AI assistant, and run AI agents on one secure, open platform. It started as enterprise search and now offers over 100 enterprise SaaS connectors, a choice of LLMs, and APIs, without vendor lock-in or lengthy implementations.

Its Enterprise Graph and Personal Knowledge Graph link people, content, and activity to give each employee personalized, context-aware answers. Its AI agents work across teams using enterprise and public data, both structured and unstructured, historical and real-time. The company serves customers in more than 50 industries and has over 1,000 employees in more than 25 countries.

The team is hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to make production services more reliable, scalable, and easier to run. This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You will build and operate resilient cloud infrastructure, raise reliability against defined SLOs, and help teams handle production issues through observability, incident practices, and blameless reviews. You will also advise on system and architecture decisions and work with engineers across the company.

Because the company is growing quickly, its distributed systems run in a hybrid cloud and grow more complex. You will write software and apply SRE methods to remove manual work, build internal tools, and improve deployment, monitoring, and on-call processes. Your work covers incident investigation, cutting toil, and tuning performance, capacity, and cost so the company can scale and customers get a dependable product.

You will help the company use AI in its own development and operations, as part of the team's everyday work, with AI fluency expected from every engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example in reliability work, setting standards for incident handling, performance tuning, and automation, and drive cross-team projects with engineering leadership and other functions.
  • Build reliable systems by designing resilient cloud architectures, watching system behavior, and finding and fixing bottlenecks and single points of failure before they cause outages.
  • Take a turn on the primary on-call rotation, encourage curiosity and a growth mindset, and foster blameless postmortems. Keep improving the on-call process so it stays sustainable.
  • Write and maintain automation, scripts, and tools that make deployment, monitoring, and system management faster, which helps cloud operations scale.
  • Tune cloud infrastructure and applications for performance, scalability, and cost.
  • Work with security engineers to apply security practices and meet security standards and policies.
  • Design and set up advanced monitoring and alerting, and build and maintain dashboards and playbooks for production on-call.
  • Take part in the full software lifecycle by joining system design reviews and adding SRE input to launch reviews, which shapes architecture.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years in a senior role in site reliability engineering or a similar role, mainly managing cloud services and infrastructure.
  • 5+ years of software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 3+ years leading projects and designing, analyzing, and debugging distributed systems in the cloud.
  • Strong knowledge of a major cloud platform such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.
  • Hands-on experience with containers, including Docker and Kubernetes. Terraform experience is essential; familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like it is required.
  • Solid grasp of networking, security principles, and current SRE and security practices.
  • Proficiency with monitoring and alerting tools to spot and respond to potential problems quickly.

Conditions

The role is hybrid, with 4 days a week in the Mountain View office.

The standard base salary for this role is $200,000 - $260,000 per year. Final pay depends on factors such as location, level, job knowledge, skills, and experience. Some roles may also be eligible for variable compensation, equity, and benefits.

The interview process includes a short AI-focused exercise or discussion about how you think about, design, and use AI to create impact. You may reference any tools, platforms, or workflows you already use. Prior experience with the company is not needed.

The company is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace and does not discriminate based on gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, civil or family status, age, disability, or race.

Benefits

  • Medical, vision, and dental coverage.
  • Generous time off.
  • Contributions to a 401k plan to support long-term savings.
  • A home office improvement stipend on joining.
  • Annual education and wellness stipends.
  • Regular company events and healthy lunches every day.
