Senior Service Reliability Engineer

Description

The company is a diversified trading firm with more than 30 years in the business. It trades with its own capital across Fixed Income, ETFs, Equities, FX, Commodities and Energy in major global markets, and it also runs real estate, venture capital and cryptoassets strategies. Headquarters are in Chicago, with offices in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia.

The Container Infrastructure team builds and runs on-premises and cloud-based container orchestration for trading desks, data scientists and enterprise application teams. The goal is simple, scalable services built on off-the-shelf tools, with engineering effort focused where it matters. The team is growing.

The Kubernetes platform is large, with hundreds of clusters, thousands of nodes and dozens of components. Routine work includes building new components, tracking costs and making sure each desk's compute use is efficient. You will help run the platform and work with internal customers and infrastructure stakeholders to keep it reliable, fast and cost-effective.

Responsibilities

• Work with business units to onboard applications and deploy them onto the Kubernetes platform.
• Automate repetitive manual work wherever you find it.
• Give platform users high-quality support and service.
• Tackle hard problems, build new features and components, and collaborate with capable, curious colleagues.

Requirements

• You have worked with or administered Kubernetes clusters.
• You understand networking, storage and containerization basics.
• You have familiarity with AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or both.
• You take a service-first approach: you ask questions and help people get the resources and answers they need rather than hiding behind fixed boundaries.
• You communicate clearly in writing and speech, work across teams, and back up technical and operational discussions with evidence.
• You are keen to learn, enjoy working with others, and find workable solutions within tight constraints.

Conditions

The annual base salary is $220,000 to $280,000, set by experience, qualifications and relevant skills.
