Senior Security Engineer, BAIP Cyber Defense (maternity cover)

Description

The role is a maternity cover on the BAIP Cyber Defense team, a group that covers almost every security and compliance domain.

SAP Business AI Platform (BAIP) is a multi-cloud PaaS and the technical base of SAP cloud products, used by thousands of customers to run critical business applications.

The team builds services and tools that automate security-by-default practices and make compliance with security requirements simpler, using a risk-based approach across the Business AI Platform organization.

The current project automates the collection and presentation of compliance information for external audits, which the company needs to meet legal requirements.

Knowledge of security, risk management, or compliance is helpful but not required.

The company is a leader in enterprise applications and business AI, serving organizations across finance, procurement, HR, supply chain, and customer experience for over 50 years.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate tools and services that improve the security, reliability, and operational efficiency of the platform.
• Promote a security-first mindset across the platform's design and operation.
• Work closely with the Cyber Defense team on automating security processes and compliance reporting for external audits.
• Use the latest software engineering techniques and technologies, such as Kubernetes or Cloud Foundry.
• Use current AI tools in your daily work.

Requirements

• Hold a university degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional qualifications and experience.
• Have at least 5 years of experience in software development teams, including architecture modeling and designing and implementing Java applications.
• Bring a solid grasp of cloud solutions and the architectures behind them.
• Have hands-on experience with LLM applications, agentic workflows, and AI assistant tools.
• Understand system design, scalability, and performance optimization.
• Take ownership and lead technical topics on your own, from analysis through implementation.
• Speak and write English fluently.
