Description

The role covers supply chain readiness for launching and scaling new robotic systems platforms.

You would run supply chain work for new product introductions of the highest value and the most complex direct materials. This includes choosing and sourcing suppliers, building category launch roadmaps, leading cross-functional projects, negotiating contracts, reviewing spend, setting inventory strategies, and tracking supplier performance.

You would also serve as a go-to expert in Global Supply Chain, refining core business processes, coaching colleagues on sourcing methods, and keeping up with industry and professional practice.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams on the most complex new product programs, including program reviews, executive updates, and alignment meetings.
  • Build and manage program roadmaps that meet cost, capacity, speed to market, and contract risk targets.
  • Lead the most complex categories, running cross-functional category team meetings.
  • Set long-term supplier strategies, weigh difficult trade-offs, gather requirements across the organization, and drive adoption of those strategies.
  • Lead supplier selection with Supplier Engineering, applying strategic sourcing to find a core supply base with the lowest total cost of ownership and high quality, while spotting value improvements.
  • Work with the supply base and procurement to communicate demand changes early, reducing excess inventory and shortages during development. Translate business and design changes for suppliers and find the root causes of internal demand shifts.
  • Partner with strategic sourcing on shared supplier issues, and lead escalations for new suppliers supporting NPI deliverables.
  • Escalate to supplier executives and resolve problems onsite when needed.
  • Develop complex risk mitigation plans for assigned suppliers and critical sub-tier suppliers, and implement them where applicable.
  • Assess capacity for assigned suppliers and critical sub-tier suppliers over a three-to-five-year horizon, and build support for proactive mitigations.
  • Possibly manage key supplier capacity or risk mitigation projects.
  • Use problem-solving to design countermeasures and lasting fixes.
  • Negotiate long-term commercial agreements with supplier executives, covering development, cost, scale, risk mitigation, and capacity for key suppliers to support new product introductions and volume growth.
  • Write new contract language and templates when needed, and amend existing agreements.
  • Lead cost reduction efforts to meet program contract cost goals.
  • Shape process improvements across Global Supply Chain and mentor colleagues.

Requirements

  • Significant NPI experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Outstanding negotiation skills, a record of delivering savings, and a history of closing contracts.
  • Strong MS Office and ERP skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proven project management in a fast-paced manufacturing company, handling several tasks at once and adjusting to shifting priorities.
  • Strong financial judgment, solid working knowledge of corporate and production finance, and experience building financial models to understand supplier operations.
  • Working knowledge of buying, material planning, master scheduling, and forecasting.
  • Ability to present complex topics simply to support decisions.
  • Care for precision and thoroughness.
  • A consistent record of hitting stretch goals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, with experience presenting to senior leaders.
  • BS degree or equivalent, plus 15+ years combined across design engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing operations, and/or supply chain, including at least 8 years in supply chain and 3 years in engineering, all in a regulated industry manufacturing environment.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Medical device or regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
  • SAP and Agile experience preferred.
  • Spend or supplier management and/or technical knowledge in metals (CNC machining, aluminum castings), rapid prototyping, or motion control (motors, brakes, sensors) preferred.
  • Experience with strategic sourcing principles, including the six step sourcing process, category strategy development and adoption, and collaborative supplier management preferred.
  • Certifications in CPSM, CPIM, and/or PMP preferred.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and a basic understanding of them preferred.
  • Basic understanding of data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI preferred.
  • Experience with make vs. buy decisions and ROI analysis preferred.
  • Knowledge of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and cost levers preferred.

Conditions

Around 25% travel to domestic and international suppliers.

Some roles may require current proof of vaccination against certain diseases, including COVID-19. Requirements vary by role.

Some roles may be subject to U.S. export controls for prospective employees who are nationals of embargoed or sanctioned countries. The company may need to obtain an export license, which can take 3 to 6+ months, or put a Technology Control Plan (TCP) in place, which typically adds 2 weeks to hiring.

Final offers depend on an approved export license and/or an executed TCP before the start date. That date may or may not be flexible, and the timeframe will not unreasonably delay hiring. Candidates will be told of any steps required.

Preference goes to qualified candidates who do not reside, or plan to reside, in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, or Tennessee.

Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records are considered in line with fair chance laws.

The job level may differ from the one listed, depending on business need and the selected candidate's experience, knowledge, and skills.

Pay is based primarily on the job level the role is filled at and the candidate's qualifications, consistent with applicable law.
