Description

You will own product discovery from the home page through search, browse, product listing pages (PLP), product detail pages (PDP), and the point where a customer adds an item to their cart. You are the single point of product accountability for how customers find products, compare them, and decide to buy.

You will work closely with Site Merchandising, who decide what is featured and how the catalog is presented. You will own the search, browse, and product page functionality that makes that curation work.

The role is cross-functional and high-visibility, working with Engineering, Product and UX Design, Site Merchandising, and Marketing. It has direct influence on conversion, discovery quality, and customer confidence in buying.

The company is building its online shopping experience and the team is growing its product discovery work.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the Shop space, covering home, search, browse, PLP, PDP, and add to cart.
  • Set and lead the roadmap for Shop from discovery through delivery, working day to day with the Shop Engineering leadership.
  • Define and track Shop success metrics, including search success and conversion, zero-results rate, filter and refinement effectiveness, PLP to PDP click-through, add-to-cart rate, and average order value. Measure the customer and business impact of each release, not only whether it shipped on time.
  • Turn business priorities into a sequenced, prioritized roadmap and explain the trade-offs behind each choice.
  • Work with Site Merchandising, Marketing, and other business stakeholders to agree on priorities and scope. Negotiate trade-offs, defer lower-priority requests, and keep the team on the highest-impact work.
  • Manage and influence the third-party vendors behind product discovery, such as search, personalization, recommendations, and ratings and reviews providers. Push for roadmap alignment and product improvements, and track results against the experience they support.
  • Align roadmaps and sequencing with the Product peers on the Buy and Native App teams wherever work spans domains.
  • Use hands-on knowledge of Shopify's storefront and content architecture and the wider vendor landscape to make build-versus-buy decisions and manage platform dependencies.
  • Keep a clear view of the complexity of international and localized discovery, including market-specific catalogs, assortments, and content.
  • Work with your UX Design partner to shape how product information is presented and structured, including sizing and fit, materials, and shipping and returns details. Clear, usable information should help customers add to cart with confidence and return fewer items.
  • Make sure Engineering and Design are solving the real underlying problem, not only working through a features backlog. Look past the symptom to the root cause.

Requirements

  • You have 6+ years of product management experience, including meaningful time owning site search, browse, or PDP end to end.
  • You have a proven record in retail e-commerce, ideally at a direct-to-consumer or omnichannel apparel or lifestyle brand with a high customer experience standard.
  • You have experience bringing digital and physical retail together into one smooth discovery experience, such as showing store availability on the PDP. Exposure to international or localized catalog content is ideal.
  • You have hands-on experience with Shopify, including its storefront and content architecture. Experience with search vendors such as Bloomreach is a plus.
  • You have strong quantitative instincts and have run structured A/B tests to validate hypotheses.
  • You know modern product discovery and delivery practices and act quickly toward measurable customer and business results.
  • You are curious about customers and the jobs they are trying to do when they discover products and decide what to buy. You want to keep improving that experience.
  • You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical partners and are comfortable presenting to senior leaders.
  • You are kind, collaborative, and bring energy to the team. You give and take feedback well.
  • You care about the health and wellness industry and about retail e-commerce.
