Description

The Customer Experience team in the company's government practice is hiring a senior product designer to shape digital brand experiences that are intuitive, impactful and accessible.

The team designs, builds and modernises systems that government organisations rely on to serve residents, including benefits and claims platforms, case management, data and analytics, and the digital services citizens and employers use directly.

The company is a national technology and management consulting firm that works delivery first. Sellers and delivery staff work side by side, consultants are employees rather than subcontractors, and its reputation rests on programmes that launch and keep running.

You will influence user behaviour and strengthen the link between brands and their customers by guiding the delivery of polished, engaging digital products and services. You work with project managers, user researchers, designers, content strategists and developers to take end-to-end experiences from concept to launch.

Most of your time goes to hands-on, client-facing delivery. You may also mentor and coach junior talent, and use your leadership to grow client relationships and accounts, develop future design leaders and expand the practice.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation of personas, customer journey maps, wireframes, responsive visual designs and interactive prototypes that follow interaction design and usability best practices.
  • Manage the project team, coaching junior creatives to build their skills and raise the quality of client deliverables.
  • Present design concepts and their rationale to clients and internal teams, clearly and persuasively.
  • Produce clean, concise presentations that explain the reasoning behind your designs.
  • Give specific, constructive feedback on interactions, information architecture, content, layout and how well the experience fits goals and brand.
  • Run competitive assessments, propose new alternatives, and track design and technology trends.
  • Help shape CX methods, capabilities, approaches and tools. Lead and attend CX meetings and training, and take part in professional development and industry events.
  • Apply user interface best practices across web, OS-native and embedded apps, and argue for accessible experiences and strong visual design with clients and colleagues.
  • Explore AI-powered design tools and workflows, test new approaches, and adopt emerging technologies to improve creativity, efficiency and impact.

Requirements

  • You have 8+ years of professional experience, ideally in a design consultancy or digital agency.
  • You have a proven track record across product strategy, heuristic analysis, information architecture, user research, UI design, wireframing, prototyping and usability testing.
  • You turn business goals and user needs into thoughtful design solutions.
  • You bring strong creative insight and drive, taking projects from research through implementation with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
  • You present persuasively to clients and stay open to the best ideas, whatever their source.
  • You can handle enterprise-scale challenges and lead researchers and designers to produce engaging multi-channel digital solutions.
  • You drive client growth and deliver high-quality results on your own, without needing oversight.
  • You juggle several projects at once and deliver against scope and budget.
  • You have worked across user and market research, product and experience strategy, information architecture, experience design, content strategy and customer insight.
  • You communicate well in writing, speech, concepts and visuals.
  • You are required to be proficient in designing developer-ready visual assets and UI components in Figma.
  • Preferred: you organise Figma files for clarity, apply consistent styles and naming, and use auto layout, component libraries, variables and design tokens for scalable, efficient handoff.
  • You have used AI-powered prototyping tools such as Claude Code, Claude for Design, Lovable, UX Pilot, Figma Make or similar to build production-minded prototypes for developer handoff.
  • Preferred: a 4-year degree in design, HCI or a similar field.
  • A plus: proficiency in PowerPoint, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
  • A plus: familiarity with user research tools such as Optimal Workshop, User Testing and SurveyMonkey.
  • A plus: working knowledge of Agile product development lifecycles and practices.
  • A plus: familiarity with WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.

Conditions

Onsite work at a client location or a company office is required when requested.

Remote work is allowed when it suits both company and client needs.

Benefits

  • Customisable career paths based on your skills and interests, with support to reach your goals.
  • Generous PTO, health coverage, disability insurance and paid family leave, plus extended benefits.
  • Learning and development: certification and tuition support, on-demand courses, mentorship and skill-building paths.
  • Modern Health: a mental health and well-being platform with 1:1 care, group sessions and self-serve resources for employees and their families.
  • Carrot Fertility: inclusive fertility and family-building coverage for all paths to parenthood, plus optional employer-sponsored funds for care.
  • Fringe: a company-paid stipend for personal lifestyle benefits such as Netflix, Spotify, GrubHub, student loan repayment, travel and fitness.
  • Employee resource groups that build diversity and inclusion into daily operations.
  • Philanthropic partnerships and pro-bono projects that support local communities.
  • 401(k) matching with no vesting period.
