Description

The company builds advanced aerospace systems, and this role sits in the Systems Engineering organization of its Aeronautics Systems business.

You will work across the full systems engineering lifecycle, from early concept and requirements through integration, verification and validation (V&V), and delivery.

You will interact regularly with customers and leadership, including giving technical briefings.

The role may be based in Rancho Bernardo, CA, El Segundo, CA, or Palmdale, CA.

Relocation assistance may be available.

Travel is required, about 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out systems engineering work across the lifecycle: concept and system definition, requirements development, decomposition and allocation, interface definition and management, and integration, verification and validation planning and execution.
  • Write V&V strategies and plans, including Requirement Verification Plans and System Test and Verification Plans.
  • Partner with test and specialty engineering teams so test procedures correctly interpret and verify requirements.
  • Create and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for internal and external interfaces, coordinating with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), suppliers, customers and interface working groups.
  • Help develop and document system architectures and Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), working with cross-functional teams so the architecture meets performance, reliability, safety and maintainability goals.
  • Contribute systems engineering input to design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and to integration and test readiness reviews.
  • Prepare and deliver technical briefings to internal leadership and external customers.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science in a STEM field with at least 8 years of relevant military or professional experience, or a Master's in a STEM field with at least 6 years, or a PhD with at least 4 years.
  • Experience across the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements development and decomposition, requirements management and traceability, and V&V planning and execution.
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, DOORS Next, or similar.
  • Experience developing ICDs and defining interfaces.
  • Experience giving technical presentations to customers or leadership.
  • An active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance, with an investigation within the last 6 years or enrollment in Continuous Evaluation.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable time, as set by business needs.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain subsequent SAP PARs after starting, so you can fully support the statement of work.
  • Preferred: active USG Top Secret and/or current Special Access or SCI, as the program requires.
  • Preferred: experience supporting major systems engineering milestones such as SRR, PDR and CDR.
  • Preferred: experience with system architecture, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and/or CONOPS definition.
  • Preferred: hands-on HW/SW integration and test, including test procedure development and discrepancy or anomaly resolution.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Agile development and/or CI/CD environments.
  • Preferred: experience coordinating with suppliers on technical requirements, interfaces and verification expectations.

Conditions

Base salary range is $142,200.00 to $213,400.00, as a general guideline. Final offers depend on factors such as the scope of the role and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

The application period is estimated at 20 days from the posting date, and may be shortened or extended based on business needs and candidate availability.

Equal-opportunity statement omitted for brevity.

Benefits

  • Depending on the position, you may be eligible for overtime, shift differential and a discretionary bonus on top of base pay.
  • Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and let employees share in company results.
