Senior Principal Engineer - Agentic Security (all genders)

Description

The role is a senior principal position in Agentic Security within Application Security. The company is building and running AI agents at scale, and autonomous systems are taking on more engineering and business work.

You will set the security and governance approach for agentic AI, covering the full lifecycle from model and tool selection to agent identity, authorization, runtime controls, guardrails, monitoring, and auditability. You will work between the engineering teams that build these systems and the security organization that protects them.

You will shape security architecture across the company, turn emerging AI regulation and internal policy into technical controls, and set technical direction in a fast-moving area. You will be part of Application Security's leadership team.

The company is looking for an experienced technical leader who is comfortable with uncertainty, can bring clarity to a new field, and can work both on company-wide direction and hands-on with delivery teams.

Responsibilities

• Define security architecture, standards, and guardrails for agentic and AI-powered systems across engineering teams, including agent identity, authorization, tool and function-call use, and limits on autonomous action.
• Lead the design of the agentic identity broker, deciding how humans, services, and agents authenticate, get authorized, and are scoped when they access AI models and capabilities, so that access is least-privilege, auditable, and secure by default.
• Keep threat modeling and risk assessment for agentic systems up to date, covering prompt injection, excessive agency, data exfiltration, and model and tool supply-chain risks. Make security reviews for AI scalable and useful.
• Work with Legal, Privacy, Compliance, and Risk on acceptable-use policies, model and agent approval processes, and AI governance forums, making sure their decisions can be enforced technically.
• Mentor and guide principal engineers in AI and application security best practices, and share knowledge across the engineering and security community.
• Advise and work with cross-functional teams and other principal engineers to build security into every stage of building and running agentic systems.
• Work hands-on in engineering teams' code and technical designs, and take part in system design and security architecture trade-off discussions with other principal engineers.
• Track developments in agentic AI, LLM security, AI regulation, and the threat landscape, and feed them into standards, guardrails, governance, and the company Tech Radar.

Requirements

• Expert knowledge of security architecture and industry trends, and experience scaling your impact across a large organization.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML and agentic systems security, including LLM integration patterns, tool use and function calling, prompt injection, agent identity and authorization, and guardrails. A strong security architecture background with the willingness and ability to go deep in this area also qualifies.
• Solid understanding of IAM, cloud security, containerization, and secure software development, and the ability to go deep with software engineers when needed.
• Excellent communication skills and experience leading organization-wide security collaboration. You understand the business context of the teams and the customer problems they solve.
• Broad software engineering experience, or experience in adjacent fields working on large-scale engineering projects.

Conditions

27 days of holiday a year to start for full-time employees, plus 1 day for each calendar year of service, up to 30 days.
