The team is hiring a senior pre-sales systems engineer to serve higher education and state government customers in Maryland and Delaware.

You will work with Territory Managers on customer problems, design networking solutions, and deliver technical presentations and proofs of concept (PoCs) that move deals from qualification through deployment. This sales role suits a consultative technical leader who solves complex problems and shapes strategic technology choices.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Territory Managers to find, qualify and move enterprise deals forward.
  • Act as the trusted technical adviser from first contact through to closing the deal.
  • Lead discovery sessions, demonstrations and customer proofs of concept (PoCs).
  • Design networking solutions that fit the customer's business and technical needs, then present them.
  • Write solution architectures, proposals and technical documents.
  • Explain the value of the company's networking solutions against rival options, in both business and technical terms.
  • Work with engineering, product teams and channel partners to get good results for customers.
  • Keep up with new networking technologies and industry trends.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 4+ years in networking.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise networking, including routing and switching, wireless, network security, SASE and SD-WAN, data center networking, and network management platforms on premises and in the cloud.
  • Experience supporting complex enterprise sales in competitive markets.
  • Highly desirable: industry certifications such as HPE/Aruba, Juniper, Cisco or equivalent.
  • Clear spoken and written communication, with a confident presence in front of customers.
  • Ability to lead customer meetings, presentations and technical discussions on your own.
  • Consultative selling and solution discovery skills.
  • Ability to turn technical detail into business outcomes for both executives and technical staff.
  • Experience collaborating in team selling.
  • Good troubleshooting, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Self-driven, with a strong sense of ownership over your territory.
  • Willingness to keep learning as technology changes.
  • Ability to manage several priorities at once in a competitive, quick-moving environment.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with customers, partners and internal colleagues.

Conditions

You must reside in Maryland or Delaware, or be willing to support customers throughout both states.

Travel within the territory may be needed for customer meetings, presentations and PoCs, up to 3 days per week.

Annual salary of USD 151,500 to 355,000 for Delaware and Maryland. This covers base and target sales pay combined, paid at 100% of plan, split 75% base and 25% target-level sales pay. The actual offer may differ based on location, experience, education or training, and skill level.

The company is an equal opportunity employer and decides on qualifications, merit and business need.

Benefits

  • A wide range of benefits covering physical, financial and emotional wellbeing.
  • Development programs for career goals, whether that means becoming a subject expert or moving into another division.
