Description

The company makes a smart ring and connected app that give users daily insight into readiness, activity and sleep quality, and it has millions of users worldwide.

The company is growing quickly and aims to give its team what they need to do good work, at the office and elsewhere.

You will join the Future Physiology team as a Senior ML Algorithm Scientist. The role is hands-on and technical, and it combines physiology, machine learning and applied biosignal research.

You will help shape the next generation of features by turning noisy, multimodal sensor data such as PPG, motion and temperature into dependable, scalable health metrics for millions of users.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full ML and algorithm pipeline, from signal processing through training and evaluation to building robust models that scale.
  • Build and ship advanced ML algorithms, including deep learning architectures such as Transformers, RNNs and probabilistic models, together with classical signal processing, to produce useful health insights for varied populations.
  • Design reliable ways to combine time-series data from several sensors, such as PPG, motion, temperature and spectroscopy, to extract trustworthy physiological metrics despite motion artifacts.
  • Use the company's large cloud datasets to refine models, and work hands-on with prototype sensors and evaluation kits to see how new hardware performs in real conditions.
  • Work with hardware, firmware, software and data infrastructure teams to agree on feature goals, confirm what the ring can physically do, and integrate algorithms smoothly.
  • Explain complex technical work and results clearly to senior stakeholders, and help steer research direction and roadmap alignment.

Requirements

  • Have 5 to 7+ years of experience in machine learning, biosignal processing, sensor fusion and analysing real-world, multimodal time-series data.
  • Be highly proficient in Python, with hands-on use of PyTorch or TensorFlow and scientific libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, pandas and matplotlib.
  • Understand the physiology behind the signals, including what the data physically represents, and apply engineering judgement to noisy problems.
  • Be familiar with scalable data systems and have a record of moving ML models from research into production.
  • Hold a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Biomedical Engineering, Signal Processing, Applied Math or a related field, or have equivalent practical experience.
  • Be comfortable with uncertainty and rapid iteration, and take full ownership of algorithm work from early feasibility testing to production-ready integration.
  • Have direct experience with consumer health products, wearable sensors, smart rings or digital health applications.

Conditions

The role is based in London, UK, and travel to the US and Finland might be required.

Working hours are flexible, and remote working arrangements are available.

The company is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on age, ancestry, colour, gender or gender identity, genetic information, marital status, medical condition, disability, national origin, family or medical leave status, race, religion, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary.
  • An Oura Ring of your own.
  • Employee discounts for friends and family.
