Description

The company is Wind River, part of the company, and it is hiring a Senior Member of Technical Staff to design and build GPU drivers for Intel Iris Xe and ARM Mali GPUs on VxWorks.

The work means building GPU drivers from scratch for safety-critical embedded and edge systems, including Aerospace & Defense.

You will work directly with GPU and SoC vendors such as Intel, ARM and NXP to turn hardware specifications into efficient VxWorks code, with a focus on a small footprint, graphics performance and designs that support safety certification.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement minimal-footprint GPU drivers for VxWorks.
  • Port and adapt Linux GPU drivers to VxWorks, cutting reliance on the DRM and Atomic frameworks to support safety certification.
  • Work with ARM DDK and SoC vendors such as NXP, Telelogic and Vivante to integrate GPU solutions into VxWorks.
  • Act as the main technical point of contact for GPU driver architecture and development on VxWorks.
  • Design and build graphics features based on product and customer needs.
  • Adapt and integrate open-source components to support the Vulkan SC APIs on VxWorks.
  • Work with display driver and user-space graphics teams on Vulkan and OpenGL integration.
  • Lead technical work through architecture, detailed design and code reviews.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of software development experience in C and C++.
  • 3 to 5+ years of hands-on GPU driver development, including technologies such as Intel i915, Iris Xe or ARM Mali.
  • Strong understanding of GPU architectures, device drivers and hardware/software interaction.
  • Experience developing GPU or graphics drivers for Linux, RTOS or embedded platforms.
  • Knowledge of Vulkan, Vulkan SC, OpenGL, DRM/KMS, Linux kernel internals or related graphics technologies.
  • Experience working in cross-functional, geographically distributed engineering teams.
  • Experience with safety-critical standards such as DO-178C or ISO 26262 is preferred. Contributions to open-source graphics, kernel or embedded projects are a plus.

Conditions

The compensation range is $130,000 to $170,000 CAD, plus an annual incentive bonus. Pay is set by education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, abilities and internal equity.

The role is hybrid.

Equal-opportunity employer.

Benefits

  • Hybrid work model for flexibility.
  • Comprehensive health, dental and life insurance.
  • Short- and long-term disability coverage.
  • RRSP matching.
  • Flexible time-off policies.
  • Employee assistance and learning programs, including LinkedIn Learning.
