Senior Java Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• You will build and maintain Java backend applications and microservices, focusing on performance and reliability.
• You will implement Spring Boot applications, applying clean code, testing, and performance optimization practices.
• You will work with DevOps to containerize and deploy applications and set up CI/CD pipelines.
• You will use events to build asynchronous, decoupled services that scale.
• You will design and maintain relational database integrations that keep data consistent and the system responsive.
• You will join architecture discussions, review code, and help set engineering standards.
• You will use AI code companions and intelligent development tools to work faster and keep code quality high, staying current with modern practices.
• You will guide junior developers and help build a collaborative culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

• You have 5+ years of backend development experience in Java 8 or above.
• You are strong with Spring Boot and the wider Spring ecosystem.
• You have built and implemented RESTful microservices.
• You write optimized SQL queries and work well with databases.
• You have working knowledge of Apache Kafka or a similar messaging platform.
• You understand asynchronous programming, message-driven systems, and distributed systems.
• You understand Docker, orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins for automated builds and deployments.
• You have experience with Git, Agile practices, and cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• You have hands-on experience with AI code companions and intelligent development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, JetBrains AI Assistant, or similar.
• You have strong English communication skills. German is a plus.
• You use AI tools daily to improve productivity, automate repetitive work, support decisions, and improve output quality.
• You use AI tools responsibly: you write effective prompts, check outputs critically, understand their limits, and own the final result.
• You have experience tuning and monitoring Java applications.
• You know backend security best practices.
• You have full stack experience across backend and frontend, with Angular or React.
